[ Personality ]: Charlie is, like many 6 year olds, an easily excitable kid who often doesn't know when to shut up. Her mood mostly revolves around the atmosphere, however, so if she senses a difficult atmosphere, she will try her best to be quiet (though this isn't normally successful). What's more, the smallest things can change her mood, she could go from moping around to bouncing off the walls with something as little as a butterfly. Needless to say, she is very easily distracted. Her attitude can also vary depending on what she is wearing. If she is wearing masculine clothes (the clothes her mother picked out for her) she is far more shy than she is when she's wearing feminine clothes (the clothes her father let her buy) where she is asking far too many questions and can not stop talking. When she's scared, she will try to seek somewhere where she can hide or somewhere that is comforting to her. From this position she often won't move until someone she knows can prize her from this position or she fulls to sleep. If she falls to sleep, she'll probably wake up as chirpy as ever, having completely forgotten or ignoring what made her scared in the first place- she is very forgetful. Finally, she takes everything said to her seriously (she struggles to understand sarcasm and jokes)

[ Backstory ]: Charlie was generally a very happy kid. She felt loved by both her parents, was very happy where she lived and generally had a good life. Until the age of 4 her wardrobe was pretty mixed, masculine and feminine stuff, and neither of her parents thought anything of it. However, at the age of 4 her mother decided that it was unhealthy for a little boy to be wearing such feminine stuff so she attempted to throw it out but was stopped by her dad who argued that there was no harm in wearing what she wanted. Overhearing this conversation was when she first learnt about gender roles. After this point her mother refused to buy her anything out of the 'girls' section and forced her to take part in more masculine activities such as football (soccer?) This caused a clear divide within her parents which lead to many arguments and violent outbursts from her mother. This went on for the next year. She made many attempts to rid her feminine clothes, and her dad stopped her every time. Each time, however, the violence got worse and worse, resulting in both her and her dad to be pretty beat up. Charlie, not understanding entirely why this was happening, continued as she was, taking the hits and living under the threat of her mother.

When she reached the age of 5, her father decided it was enough. He sought some help but received none due to the fact that he was a guy and 'only men are domestic abusers'. At this point however, he recognized that Charlie was trangender and, after a talk to confirm her feelings, he began using different pronouns for her when her mother wasn't around and tried his best to meet her needs.

When Charlie was 5 1/2 her father tried again to report the abuse and was rejected once more. Only this time he mentioned the fact that Charlie was transgender. This report is what caused her to be taken away.
When she was taken away, she was more confused than anything. The officers came into her home and she found them in the living room talking to her parents. During the conversation her mother let her anger get the best of her and attempted to attack both her and her father in front of the officers. Charlie was pulled out of the scene whilst her mother was pulled away from her dad. Being stiff with fear she allowed herself to be taken away.

The young red panda rose her head, giggling as she shook the dirt from her scruffy auburn hair. In front of her was her father with a massive smile plastered across his face. "Come on, you can do better than that" he jeered lightheartedly. With a slight grunt she pushed herself up and charged again. Head first she rammed into the grown man. He lost his footing slightly and slid backwards. Immediately recognizing her chance, Charlie pushed even harder. Thud! The two fell onto the floor in a flurry of red, white and black. "I win!" The young girl stared at her father from his chest with the success sparkling in her eyes.

"Dad?" Charlie bounced into the eerily silent room. Her parents sat on the sofa with two other people in front of them. She didn't recognize them, but their clothes informed her that they were the police. Immediately sensing the seriousness of the situation, she quickly apologized and began to back out the room. She guessed she shouldn't get involved, she'd ask her dad to play with her later. Her dad stood up and walked towards her, his eyes dark. He took her shoulders and guided her back into the room where she then sat between her parents. "Is this the child?" a gruff voice emerged from the officer on the right. Her mother gave a sharp nod. Charlie turned to look at her mother. She was shaking and her eyes seemed full of anguish. "But as I told you before, he is not a girl". The two officers glanced at the child who was wearing her favourite polka dot dress. Her mother followed their gaze and stiffened, saddness melting away into fury. "I told you to get rid of that" she growled, taking a hold of the dress. Charlie's eyes widened in fear. "B-but it's my f-favourite...." She then turned her anger to her husband. "And I told you to stop buying him this nonsense!" He quickly pulled Charlie towards him, wrapping his hands protectively around her shoulders. "If sh-" he saw the officers out of the corner of his eyes and quickly adjusted his words, "he likes to wear dresses then he can!". As Charlie's mother began to rise, one of the officers took hold of the child and pulled her from her father's grip. They pulled her out of her house, and the last thing she saw was her mother being pulled away from her crying father.
