Description Here is my character Dark O Fu on his way to his icy mountain compound. Dark O Fu is a leader of a sinister clan of ninjas within my series' Kogasuma nation. Dark O Fu was one of my first characters, dating back nearly twenty-five years. He has a network of compounds, bunkers, temples, and shrines to which his clan organize.

This is really good. What really strikes me is the background, it's very well done. Of course, the character is bad ass too, as most ninjas are.

Thanks so much for the kind words as always man. I'm not too good at all with digital background so I try to make up for that with these drawn scenic, physical geography type backgrounds. I love landscapes as backgrounds, but I'll have to have a few more urban scenes too.

i agree with about the backgrounds. you put as much effort into them as you do the main character. as opposed to other artists who just gloss over the bg with something simple.. myself included.

great pose and scene by the way.

Thanks so much! I use to be like that in regards to backgrounds....hehe, go check out my '04 and '05 stuff. Backgrounds are still new to me and I never thought I'd be into drawing them. Scenic backgrounds like this icy mountain are fun to draw and they always (I hope) add to the charcters and the world they live in.

BTW, I do have the inks of Dark O Fu from this piece if you'd like to colour it. I don't have the background since I drew the background after I scanned the inks.

Thanks man! I try to keep his look cool, functional, but basic. I hope to have more coming before too long. I just seem to spend more time on each piece then I use too.

Really good LB! Well, the reason you are spending more time is because you are getting better. So you tend to be more detailed now than before.
That is all part of you growing as an artist, you become more critical about yourself.

Really like the mountain man! I know I always comment on your backgrounds for some reason, but they're just very nice looking! Cool character as well, he looks a little like Shredder, ha.

Thanks alot! I liked this background alot too. I wanted to give DOF an Ice Mountain compound to plan and train from and this came about. In the heat of July it's nice to draw a cold mountain scene.

I also got a Shredder vibe too from how he came out. It's probably the bladed helmet. He was created back in the 1980's when there were alot of cool ninja movies (Sho Kosugi, etc) with bladed masks that seem to have inspired many creators such as myself.

Oh wow. That looks great, I like the colors that you used it flows well. He looks strong and intense but there is something soft about him. I can't figure out what that is though

Thanks so much! Dark O Fu is one of my oldest characters and I thought he needed some attention with a piece. He's also one of my first favorites, especially among the male characters.

I'm working on many more pieces, just wanted to show everyone I was still around. I spend more time on my pieces then I use to.

Well I hope to have Dark O Fu in more pieces in the coming months. He's generally a mysterious guy, not alot of details are known even thought he's been around for so long. He's more of an enigma. I have alot planned for him in the future.

I've been busy, but still around. I have several new pieces in production to which I hope to share soon. I get impatient alot too, but I'm learning to be less so....slowly.

Well that is good to know but its better to know you are still alive and kickin' wow that's quite a bit. I can't wait to see them. I love looking at your work. HAha yeah I think that is part of the art process. Patience and I know I don't have much of that one

Well next year will be 25 years since I created my ninja world in 1986. I still have a few original characters on the current roster besides Dark O Fu.

As for his looks, yes they have evolved over the years. He had a camouflage ninja outfit back in the 80's. This look he's had for about ten years with some slight tweaks along the way.

I've been thinking. You have 25 years worth of characters and stores in your head. Ever gave serious thought about creating a novel?

The Depection Sub-Zero didn't get me upset too much if at all. I've always had a love/hate relationship with MK, jealous over "them" having a cool arcade and later video game martial arts fighting game property of mass fandom before I could...even though I created my world and so many characters six years before MK even appeared.

Yes indeed, I hope to write alot about this world I created someday. It's just so much I don't know where to start. I have stars and favorites I can easily write about, but I need to work on a few more things before I get to that. I have not only 24+ years worth of backstories, personal character histoies, but a load of future stories with the current crop of characters.

Well Dark O Fu may have been one of my first. Lord Tokimoto, Yamada, Pee-Wee Ninja and Suzanne Fox were some of my first creations and stars. [link] I may start telling the story as I began it in 1986 or make multiple novels one based on current characters and another more on the history starting from the begining.

That would be a nice start, or you could start with the three Fox sisters as the nucleus for the universe, then expand on other characters later.

True, I had thought of that since their mother was one of my originals (and they were children at that time). For me starting is the hardest part, after that is shouldn't be as hard as things begin to flow....I hope.
