Fellara Darwyen is the youngest memeber of the Darwyen family, ruling dynasty of the Dar'madwein tribe of the Nindarii. Her father is the middle of three brothers, Tieravan, Elidain, and Namaviel, but when Argeris Tieravan fell in battle, the ruling hand fell upon his wife - and Fellara's aunt - Danaste.

Fellara favors that part of the family greatly, with more in common with her famous cousin Callonde than with her own mother in many ways. She also shares Callonde's sense of adventure and love of life. As a dedicated defender of Nindarin ways, around the age of thirty-five, Fellara joined the scouts, under the command of her uncle Namaviel. Now in her mid forties, young Fellara is one of the greatest of all the scouts, though personally she can't help but feel that she's trying to live up to Callonde's reputation.

In her own life, she's also trying to come to terms with her own feelings. Boys have just become interesting to her thanks to meeting Cobriel, a boy from another Nindarin tribe. Still, she maintains youthful affection for her own best friend, Seralde Melathra.

As she faces the adulthood quickly approaching, Fellara has to come to terms with not only her own life but her place in a quickly-growing world of peril, adventure, heroes, and villains.
