In a manner of speaking, yes. Fail to solve it in time, you die a gruesome fate. He uses more than just a standard puzzle picture. But stuff like brain teaser's and puzzle boxes like a rubix cube.

I don't think I've seen his episode but I know there's a new Superman villain called The Puzzler who appeared in that dopey Superman: Truth story where Clark lost 99.99% of his powers.Β He used robots that wrecked havoc called Puzzle-Bots and eventually put his brain in one.Β A lot of things in that story were pretty lacking...

Really? Strange. From what I've looked up, the Puzzler was a villain created for the Adam West Batman. The naming is most likely coincidental.

Probably is.Β The Riddler is such a classic villain icon and Cluemaster is a good take on a baddie trying to riff on another super-crook's gimmick that a third one would be redundant so I can understand why they made him a Superman villain but he's so different now that it feels like there's nothing there to pay homage to.

Strange. But if they where going to reintroduce the Puzzler, they could have made him the mentor to Riddler. basically be the teacher/father figure Riddler never had and has heavily influenced his actions from Puzzler's own schemes.

That would be tricky but could work since the Riddler is such an egomaniac that I can see him wanting to learn from an old time villain like Puzzler but afterwards would claim he came up with it all on his own after he kicks Puzzler to the curb.

That can work. At the same time, Riddler would hide that fact he regretted removing the Puzzler from his life. As Puzzler showed Riddler understanding that he never got from his abusive father. How was never fond of Riddler being a Brainiac.

Funny you'd mention the Riddler in this. It was said that since Frank Gorshin wasn't on hand to play the character, they invented a similar one in his place, that of course being The Puzzler.

True. Which is why I included the Riddler being mentionedΒ in the bio.

Although a good effort, he's not half as good as Riddler.

Fair point. Riddler managed to get people to work for him and managed to become a bigger threat.
Telltale's Batman for example, portrays him as a terrorist that was locked up in the same prison Bane was in.

I recommend either playing the game or watch a walkthrough of Telltale's Batman. It takes some interesting liberties that work for a dark story.
Riddler appears in the first episode of season 2 of Telltale's Batman. He manages to be very crazy and clever. I also recommend the first season, featuring Catwoman, Two-Face, Penguin, Blockbuster (a miner villain), Carmine Falcone, Ventriloquist, Victor Zazz, and Joker (called John Doe in the game)
