Description
This is the glacier lagoon at Svínafellsjökull in south east Iceland. Though much smaller than Jökulsárlón it is very beautiful and has a very different feel to it not least because there aren't crowds of people there. The impressive glacier tongue comes down between the mountains and these small icebergs break off and float in the lagoon. The blue colour is caused by the way light bounces off the densely compacted ice. As soon as it warms up and gets air in it the colour fades away quite quickly.Related content
