Reading your comments below about this being old, and initially editing it as best you could at the time, I do see what you mean about a graininess with IR, but this is still a great, and very interesting image! The little 'dolls house' cottages really put the castle into scale!

I wonder what is making the walls so IR reflective ?

probably a mixture of two things. It was taken in 2006 as a jpg on a Nikon D70s with a red infrared filter on and seems to be a bit overexposed. (The sun was very bright) Very difficult to see what you've got on the screen of a d70s at the best of times but when it is red and black you can't tell till you've got it onto your computer. Then this file was edited a long time ago initially and not too well which left me with this jpg to work on. I did play with taking some of them glow off the castle but it looked worse in my opinion and I do like to leave my ir images looking a bit rough as that is how they can look when you shoot on ir film. I often go woth my overall feel for a picture and try not to get too technical with the editing as I am not trying to make a nice clean digital file. Since then I have had this camera converted to a IR only camera which is great fun.

that is astonishing Richard. It's great how we have chosen almost exactly the same spot yet out treatment is totally different. Great comparisons. We do go to the same places don't we?

thanks mate. I thought this one was a bit rough but that's what I try to get in ir.
