NOT true. Modern Samus is smaller than Little mac and she is as tall as Pit.

The Smash Bros. heights are inaccurate. Kirby is only 8 inches tall and Olimar is not even an inch tall officially, yet they're around Pikachu's height in Smash.
Sonic is only 3'3 officially, yet he's nearly as tall as Fox (5'8) in Smash. Mewtwo is 6'7 and Ganondorf is 7'6, yet their heights are scaled down for Smash. It's a lot of characters really.

Yeah, she does appear shorter than the Federation members, but seeing as how Metroid is in a sci-fi setting, it's possible that the Federation soldiers are just really tall

Actually them being tall is highly likely.
Being exposed to less gravity (space) has a positive effect on height growth.
Not only that, the human race is getting progressively taller as time passes by, hell I can even see it just from generation to generation.
They could all easily be a head taller than the average height of today.
