Your character designs are very distinctive. I don't think anyone could replicate your Tom's quirked eyebrow, wide smile and pointed chin, or your Ginny's long nose and hairstyle (the hairpins are a nice touch!). I'm also quite fond of her lethargic, dazed look and her well-positioned fingers; those must have been difficult to get right. She *does* look older than eleven -- I originally thought she was HBP!Ginny -- but that could probably be fixed by making her a little shorter. My only other gripe is her freckles, which are just not visible enough; you may want to accentuate them or colour the picture.
How much do I love this position? Tom's hand on her back makes it look as if she is relaxing against him, or as if he is urging her to do so, which is what this relationship is all about: a forged sense of trust. Nice use of the diary here, too, with Ginny losing herself into his words. (By the way, is her head actually resting on his shoulder?)
The smoke does wonders to the eerie atmosphere.

That's a very good interpretation, and for whatever reason reminds me strongly of the Teen Titans episode where Raven finds that evil guy inside a book and is tricked into trusting him.
But then, I'm clinically insane. XD I like her short hair to show the years back. Creepy evil smoke. <3
