Ope's fishing pole looks different now. I went there in October and the fishing pole looks extended and bent at the end.Β ent2pri9se.deviantart.com/art/…

Also this was not taken in Raleigh North Carolina. This was taken in Mount Airy North Carolina.

The statue in your photo is a different statue than the one in my photo. Β My photo was taken in Pullen Park in Raleigh. Β I haven't seen the statue in Mount Airy. Β I've actually never been to Mount Airy. Β I imagine the Ope's fishing poles are just different between the two different statues. Β The one in Mount Airy does look longer and more bent. Β

I'm sorry. I was completely unaware that there was another T.V. Land statue that was put up in Raleigh. Mount Airy is somewhere you have to visit. The people are as nice as they are on the show and Mount Airy is the town where Mayberry is based upon and where Andy Griffith grew up.Β

This is and always will be one of my favorite shows (my fav show being The X-Files, but Andy is a very close second!) Just the atmosphere, the way the characters interact, everything about the show is so simple and charming. And I believe you really have to live (or have lived) in a small town to really understand the show's finer qualities.

A great show ... Thanks for posting this.

Such a wonderful scene of a time long ago - a time when a small town sheriff and his son could enjoy life.

Such was, and is, the stuff of small-town life back in the day.

Very good work, and thanks for posting, friend!

I've seen that same photo, only in his hometown, Mt. Airy.

I wish I had this camera one day when I went with some of my family to some park because there was a Duck-Turkey there! It had the body of a duck and the head of a turkey!
