This outfit is for pinkythepink 's Monthly Feature Challenge: BUTTERFLIES ! Pinky is very good at getting me to do outfits I really like.Presenting my favorite 5-frame villain! This is her musical appearance. She only shows up in the second stage Sailor Stars musicals and then never again. This outfit, like Lead Crow's, is based on her first appearance (her second appearance had a butterfly wing cape).
For those who aren't familiar with the char, Papillon is an Animamate who guards the Garden of Souls and attempts to kill Sailor Moon and friends. She manages to kill an ally before being killed herself. I hope to see her show up in Crystal! In the musicals, she was the leader of the Dancing Animamates dance troupe, a rival group to the Starlights, going under the alias of Miss Butterfly.
Nearly the entire outfit is made out of stretch metallic lycra, my favorite shiny material. The wings are supported with the heaviest of Pellon interfacing with a heavy gauge wire inside to allow for the wings to bend and pose.
Each spot on this outfit is painstakingly drawn, cut out, and individually sewn. There are over 100 spots on this outfit of various sizes, all meticulously pinned into place.
It was very difficult to sew without spearing myself.
The doll used here is a Fairytopia head transplanted on a fashionista body. For a few pix, the head was transplanted on the body of an Ultimate Poseable Barbie.

tbh I cannot recall, though she played a much less important role in the musicals than she did in the manga. She was part of a dancing troupe instead of a soul collector. I need to go watch that myu again.

Check out the first stage Sailor Stars (the first, not the Kanteiban) to see Phi, Chi, and the new Theta and the only male animamate (easily one of my favorite characters in the musicals).

Wow he is pretty cool. I was looking around on the Wikipedia for images and a lot of them were saying he was female. The nickname of the character was Shadow Bug if I recall. It would make sense bracelets equal animamate. XD

Shadow Bug, Shadow Bee, and Shadow Mantis are Sailors Phi, Chi, and Theta. He is in command of them. He is very much a guy and is played by one of my favorite myu actors. He plays a lot of random chars I swear are made solely so he can bring them to life. He plays Tigers Eye in one of the myus, I can't recall which ones, and he's doing backflips across the stage.

Ah I see. Very interesting. I guess they are maybe having it where a guy plays a female character like they did in old plays since we have never heard of a male senshi. They are more knights I guess is what they would call them.

*nods* Ah ok that's where I was confused I thought he had the sailor title as well that makes more sense. I hope to be able to at some point it's a little hard since I work a 40 hr week plus some overtime. I only have weekends to do anything and I'm usually pretty busy on those days too.

I also need to watch the Live Action Sailor Moon at some point as well. I saw I think up to Ami coming into the picture since I was watching it with a friend and we only got to see a few episodes. She's too far away though now since she moved.

The few episodes I had seen of it where really good. I would love to cosplay this version of Sailor Moon at some point since I love all the details in outfit.

Ya maybe they still will someday but it's hard to say for sure. For all we know they could be working on them after they finish Crystal. I can only imagine how pretty some of the other costumes would have been.
