Description I kind of thought about doing this after i rebought fate and started going through some of the crap that annoyed me before (don't get me wrong, i love this game, but some of the aspects, like the fact at how SLOWLY your character levels up the higher in level it gets, and that the maps can be so convoluted and maze like (i gave up today because i got lost and was fed up) that I just had to give some of my comentary through Rookie here.)

I actually made an avatar for Rook in the game. I made him a cogger because for SOME annoying reason, the human males do not have red hair, only human females. honestly, the male avatar choices are SO BORING. so i just when for cogger (cause shadow elves and half orcs are butt ugly)

I also started Rook off with an axe. his actual weapon in his story is a poleaxe, but polearms are slow, and i wanted to have a faster moving weapon... unfortunately i didn't realize that it is nearly impossible to find a decent axe. so now i'm wishing i'd just been OOC and given him a freaking sword because there are plenty of different sword types to chose from! i'm so annoyed!

anyway, yeah... mimics. i didn't draw them as scary as they are steelgolem.files.wordpress.com…

horrible horrible beasts from hell. they scared the crap out of me when i first happened upon one. if you turn your "tag fallen items" tool on, it even labels it as "large chest" but when you go to open it it suddenly sprouts teeth and wings and violently attacks you and is nearly impossible to get away from!

lol hopefully you found this comic humorous. there will be more of Rooks guides soon!

Can't you do the old "run towards it, then run backwards if it comes alive" trick? Or do they only come alive when you open them? Would Rook ever explore a dungeon alone? And it stinks that axes (the best weapon in the world) are so crappy in that game

well, the mimics weren't as hard as i remember them being... but basically if you go near them they start attacking you... however you can spot them because they're colored like the large chests, only they're smaller, and plus if you put your cursor over them the "chest" label has a yellow background, which is only for monsters, which is a hint that thats a mimic.
good question... i'm trying to actually gives skills and stats based on personality... i have one avatar for Rook and one for Lear... but as for if they would go alone. nope. neither lear nor rook would go down into a dungeon by themselves. but as thats part of the game, that aspect can be overlooked XD

I think i'm going to focus on Rooks magic and vitality... and charm magic (because you can summon monsters to your aid with charm magic... and i like to use the black widow spiders cause they're poisonous and useful) also i'm going to focus on his defense and shield battle (he has a shield) because Rook is not a strong person phsyically, but he's got tireless energy, and he tends to be more on the defense.

Lear i'm going to focus on strength and vitality. because she's impatient and would rather just kill a monster in one hit leave her more time to explore and find loot she's also got duel wield skills. and i'm going to focus on her magic skills, but not her magic powers so much (you can upgrade your magic in one box, and upgrade your skills in another) I think she's going to mainly have attack magic at her disposal, but for good measure i'm amping her charm magic so she can take advantage of the poisonous spider allies too. (for my sake not so much hers *screams in frustration at death screen* )

bow and arrows are stinky too. if you want long distance just use a fireball spell. bows suck as weapons.

As if the game wasn't hard enough, now you've got this treasure chest looming over you!

Exactly! At least in Dark Souls when you kill them they don't respawn like every other enemy does when you rest at a campfire!

They don't respawn in fate because the dungeons are randomly generated

Yeah now that I think of it, a mimic really isn't a respawnable enemy... I mean most of the danger is their element of surprise and to have them respawn in the same area they were in seems like a waste since people will be like, "Oh hey its an unopened treasure chest in this area I've already been through... probably that stupid mimic."
