Description Completed in the nick of time on 10/30/2009. I'd been toying with the idea of making this outfit for quite some time, but put it off. Finally I decided that if I didn't just do it, I never would. Like the Sweeney Todd costume I managed it faster than any other costumes I've set out to do.

I started with a victorian swimsuit pattern, that I heavily altered to my specifications with a few artistic licenses added in on the parts I couldn't see well. (This is an under 5 minute scene in the film) I used a narrower stripe on the leg ruffles, as it was nigh impossible to find 1" navy and white striped fabric, at least in my neck of the woods. Also the buckle is red instead of white, as I couldn't seem to find a white buckle to save my life either. >__<
The base is made from a nice navy stretch cotton, along with a white cotton collar, and lots of red and white piping, and red satin ribbon.

Certain parts were bought, such as all the accessories like the wig (hand styled by me), boots, socks, sunglasses, basket and belt buckle.

Overall I was pretty pleased with how it came out, it fits better than most of the versions I've seen, although, I still wish it could be a bit tighter, and possibly corseted. Details... details....

this is fantastic!
i wanted to do this one so bad this year, but my sewing skills are on the level of "rigging thrift store finds together" so no way I could have accomplished what you did.
once again, great job!
