Description An oekaki picture I drew years ago.

Akaya Kirihara is a second grade student who joins Rikkai Junior High School's tennis club. Being the youngest one in the team, he usually acts kind of childish and friendly, but he can be very violent and cruel at the tennis court when his eyes turn into the color of bloody red... he'll even harm his opponent merciless and injure the poor guy badly.

Nevertheless, I still like this character. I really hate the idea of Ryoma defeating every character I love in The Prince of Tennis - that's why I stopped reading the manga. Perhaps I'll begin drawing POT fanart again if I ever find the manga entertaining after all these years... well, maybe. I just lost all the interest in doing new POT fanart now... *sighs*

Kirihara is fantastic. Your picture is brilliant.
Your statement about Ryoma is also fantastic. I can't stand that guy. ^^ But the manga is still really good, you should try and finnish it up someday.

Wow, thank you! So you're a Kirihara fan? I loved Hyotei and Rikkai the most when I read POT, and Kirihara is truly an awesome character.

The reason I didn't finish reading the manga is because the tennis games depicted in POT had become more and more ridiculous (or incredibly violent in a hilarious way). And I really hated seeing that Ryoma showing off all the time... Oh well, I guess I hated him too much so I couldn't stand reading the manga anymore.

Kirihara is great! The more I *read* and ... look up fanart, the more Hyotei and Rikkai grow on me. ^w^

Yeahh..... to be honest, I skipped all the chapters that Ryoma and Tezuka played, and came back to them later. (After I had finished the whole thing) Maybe you should give the New Prince of tennis a go... it's more focused on all the players... and is pretty darn funny at times.

LOL! Well, that's because I tend to make the characters look a little bit (or very much) older when I draw fanart. Besides, sometimes I still can't believe these POT characters are only 14 or 15 years old. Especially Sanada β€” he's only 15 but he already looks like 50 to me.

Oh boy, I totally know how you feel. I had the very same feeling when I saw Kabaji and Sanada... It's kind of surreal that a teenager could look that old.

As to Yukimura... well, he does look like a female sometimes. Many male characters in Japanese ACG can look like pretty girls, so I guess it's just some kind of bishie fetish thing in their culture.

wow nice job I like the background red color, it goes well ith all the black hair and shadows on the face.

Wow! The Prince of Tennis manga and anime never really interested me much, but this pic right here is really amazing! I love the sharp contrast you set up between the black and the white, and threw in that really eye-catching blood-red for the background, as well as to colour in Akaya's eye. Awesome work! It's really amazing!

Actually the latter part of the manga kind of sucks because all the tennis games seem to be too violent and exaggerated, and the annoying main character just keeps winning in every game he plays... I was once a POT fan a few years ago, after seeing all the characters I love are defeated by the main character with no reason, I stopped reading the manga. I just couldn't stant it anymore.

Yeah, Akaya is a fun character. At first I'm afraid of his red eyes because they look kind of creepy in the manga, but he is still an adorable teenager most of the time.

Urgh, I hate Ryoma, too - gosh, he's such an arrogant character. What really sucks is that since he is the main character of POT, it's almost impossible not to see him when you read the manga or watch the anime... I hate to see him defeat all my beloved characters in every game he plays, so I quit reading POT and turned to fanfictions to heal my broken heart. I just can't stand the manga anymore...
