"You're a few centuries late for our anniversary, Optimus."
Humanized Elita One (IDW version). The scene is inspired by Emily Browning's Sweet Dreams and this dark fanfiction, A Very Bitter Reunion.
Several weeks ago I saw some pictures of IDW's version of Elita One on tumblr. I was intrigued by her character, so I went to TF Wiki and looked some information up. Well, imagine my shock when I realized this Elita One is a villain. And it seems she has nothing to do with Optimus Prime - no romantic connection, at least.
How disappointing! I was expecting some sizzling sexual tension between the Autobot leader and this new evil Elita One, and IDW simply wants to make us forget that these two were once a sweet couple in the original G1 cartoon series. This is unacceptable.
So here's a little piece of TF fanart drawn by a very bitter reader. And I really need to make time to write a proper TF5 movie review. It's so hard to sort things out when all the jumbled thoughts in my head remain a total mess - just like the movie itself.

Although she wasn't a villain, she's someone that follows her own rules. (Some weren't that good). But, she was someone that was easier to hate than love.
But, there's the reboot coming, so there always a chance they will work better in the character.

YES!!!! There's still ElitaxOptimus shippers out there! I was hoping they would have a thing together when they said they were going to put her in the IDW Comics. I mean, in Megatron Origin, Orion pax clearly had his arm on her shoulder in one of the panels! And IDW doesn't acknowledge that happened!!!!! I just need them to get together in the comics! It's all I need!!!!

I know, right? Since MTMTE and Megatron Origin share the very same timeline/universe, the way IDW wrote Elita's character in the new comics doesn't make any sense at all. At least the writers could've told us what had happened to Elita and made her become this heartless evil warlord.

Ouch on the movie (I can understand a few things especially the length but I rather liked it) and I had no idea o.o not Elita-1! Dammit. I liked her and Optimus! Fudge. IDW did it again -_- almost as bad as Bay

Glad you enjoyed the movie! I really wanted to like TF5, but I just couldn't. The trailers were intriguing but the film itself was... oh well, let's say they tried to fill in too many "cool elements" at once without giving the audience enough time to digest the info.
The IDW writers actually did a wonderful job creating fun/memorable/iconic characters. Like those main characters aboard the Lost Light in MTMTE. Guess some writers just didn't like Arcee and Elita much.

Yeah. When I wrote Elita I made her a loud, dramatic femme who wants equality and loves Orion/Optimus but I've seen others make her a bitch who doesn't care about anything or a worry-wart. Fandom writers you know? For every original interpretation, I see another dozen with the other two. I know there are hundreds of interpretations of her character but it can be disheartening when I see a character with such potential be reduced to an antagonistic individual.

And yeah, it's kind of awful to see a main character butchered like that. It's okay to create/write a strong female character, but why should a strong femme often have to be mentally sick and evil?

Exactly! That's why I wrote Elita that way. I thought she should become someone who could have helped inspire Orion to speak up and supported him as Prime while still holding her own. I like strong female characters and she's my best representation of one

男TF被打爆或SM(!?)倒不打緊，我在意的是為什麼當初描寫Arcee時要把"she"這個代名詞妖魔化啊！
先強調TF是沒有性別的種族，再安排Arcee被變態科學家強行變性(?)導致性格變得狂暴兇殘的橋段......
不管怎麼看，都覺得這種設定是在貶低女性（畢竟漫畫的讀者是人類，而人類的生理性別本來就有男女之分）
至於Elita的角色......感覺G1卡通以後的編劇都刻意忽略OP/Elita曾是G1官方配對的事實？
除了TFA有稍微著墨一點點，大部分的新作都不願意承認Elita和OP之間的感情......
（每次提到這個都會忍不住想到小說《達文西密碼》裡的耶穌和抹大拉的馬利亞）
撇開Arcee和Elita這兩個負面例子，其實IDW也可以寫出不錯的女性角色。
例如MTMTE的Nautica，我覺得她初登場恐嚇LL船員的青澀模樣好可愛

對不用繁衍後代的TF而言，另一個性別到底有甚麼意義?對社會有甚麼作用??
(Spoiler: 最新的LostLight透露了原來有Transgender這設定....有女TF原本是男性|||||但還是沒解答到我的問題呀..)

或許動畫還是想把Optimus設定成標準的領袖象徵?如果加入Elita感情線的話就會變複雜，難以向小孩解釋???我卻覺得應該讓小孩知道最偉大的人也只是人，自然有人性化的一面呀...

關於TF為何會有he/she之分，曾看過TF粉提出頗有趣的理論：
因為TF是以擬態融入環境，如果有部分TF移居其他星球、該星球上的原住民又剛好有雌性這種性別......
基於擬態的本性，這些TF外觀很有可能逐漸演變成具有雌性生物性徵，並習慣以"she"自居。
這種情況對於無性別之分的Cybertron住民算是特例，才會讓很多打從出生就自認是"he"的Cybertronians感到不解。
或許這也可以拿來解釋「跨性別」的情形？
如果看過達文西密碼，小說中的耶穌是有結婚的，妻子就是抹大拉的瑪利亞。
瑪利亞協助耶穌傳教，然而耶穌的門徒因為仇女(?)而竄改聖經內容。
理由大概如下：
耶穌是上帝之子
↓
如果後人得知上帝之子也和凡夫俗子一樣會娶妻生子，耶穌的形象就不夠神聖了
↓
這樣子傳教會很困難，我們這些門徒也會佔不到好處
結果瑪利亞在後來的聖經裡被描述成妓女之類的角色（而且當然不會和耶穌發生任何性關係）
耶穌曾結婚的事也被完全抹除，被門徒塑造成清心寡慾的聖人一枚(?)
因為官方在G1卡通後似乎一直刻意避免提及OP/Elita這個配對，加上OP的領袖屬性......
好像很怕被大家發現「OP這麼偉大的領袖原來也會談戀愛」之類的？
所以後來每次看到Elita的角色被邊緣化/妖魔化，都會想到Dan Brown寫的這本虛構小說XDDDD
我覺得Nautica和Nightbeat這一對好可愛啊啊啊啊啊啊
性格滿討喜的，應該也是人氣高才會給她加戲的吧～

沒有任何瑕疵的角色很難讓人親近，所以近年來的超級英雄電影都會特別強調主角個性方面的缺陷。

或許編劇刻意讓OP維持單身(?)是怕瘋狂女粉絲暴動？

可能因為獅子是類似一夫多妻的集性所以辛巴和娜娜應該有可能是同父異母手足，實在有點無法當他倆純粹是兩小無猜的幼馴染=v=;
加上狩獵育兒等都是母獅在做，公獅主要工作不是驅驅敵人就是打炮睡覺，所以Scar上任後搞得草原一遍荒涼根本不可能XD|||

獅子雖然吃了羚羊，但獅子死後會化為泥土的養份
肥沃的土地長出青草，然後這堆草可以養活更多羚羊......

目前覺得Tailgate還OK（還是很可愛啊），難道說他是要到LL系列後才變成超級屁孩嗎？
不知道為什麼，LL艦上成員對Brainstorm意外地很寬容。
大概是因為有對照組(前狂派首領Megatron)的緣故......
既然Megs這種魔王級人物都能留在艦上了，Brainstorm洗白後繼續和大家當麻吉好像也很正常XD
