Nickel is life and she needs so much more love. But also, please let me momentarily bombard you with my headcanons and love.

Nickel is the last of her kind, a medic, and a minibot spawned from an ancient titan. We know next to NOTHING about her past, her culture, her history, or even her actual purpose back home. How did the DJD even FIND her? They aren't titan hunters, so did they just come across a massive corpse filled with smaller corpses? If so, why did they stop? Did they do a life scan and found one, tiny, hopeless blip on the screen? Was she intended to be food for Kaon's Pet? I have so many questions, but most of all, I have theories.

However and whenever Tarn and Team found Nickel it probably wasn't pretty. She would have been surrounded by bodies, energon, lifeless emptiness, and deeply emotionally scarred. One question is why only she survived. It's the same question for Rewind. Why leave him alive? They could have easily scanned for life and found he was hiding in UM's corpse. So why? To leave him for evidence? Any good mnemosurgeon could have extracted his database post-mortem. So why did whatever destroyed Nickel's home leave her behind? And better yet, why did Tarn spare her?

Another point to make is that Nickel and the DJD's relationship is by no means healthy. She has clearly unaddressed traumas, hiding behind a hardened exterior (no pun intended). She throws rude gestures around and barks at the worst of the worst without flinching, almost as if she has no knowledge of their past or a lack of awareness/acknowledgment. And yet when she sees Tarn suffering she has a near breakdown. The very thought of him coming close to death sends her into a storm of emotions. He was possibly the first to offer her hope and refuge when found, thus making him her anchor. This is not health. Tarn is not someone she should be looking to for emotional support, and yet I can't help but wonder if this rare insight into his character was to add flesh to the skeleton antagonists. Tarn doesn't enjoy the slaughter and the blood. He sings people to death, not sends them through a blender or shocks their system to death. He's a clean operator. Does he see some purity/innocence (non-sexual) in Nickel that reminds him of a past self? Did he spare/save her because she was a mirror to a past he longed to return to, still clinging to the Cybertronian equivalent of his humanity?
