Description Seated on a bench in a local Raccolto park, the young Steenee looked... well, tired. There were bags under her eyes as a frown was plastered on her face. Beside her was her Noibat mount-in-training, Nalani, with a worried look on his face as well. Nudging his head against his owner’s hand, he was trying to figure a way to get her happy again. Looking back at her Noibat, she did pets the bat’s head, but only getting a slight smile showing for a few seconds before the frown returned.

"You know, when I said we were going for a walk, that meant YOU were supposed to walk too."

Walking along nearby was a young looking woman in a long white gown with long, somewhat glowing purple hair dragging a little wagon behind her. On top of her head perched a tiny Pumpkaboo, completely unphased by her comment.
"Booo~!" the little bat chirped, its monocular gaze taking in the scenery.
"Yeah, yeah, keep telling yourself that Poe." the woman chuckled, spying a bench nearby. Only it was occupied. Well, maybe the girl wouldn't mind if she took a break for a few moments. "Hey, mind if I sit here for a second?"

Her head picked up as she looked up at the Litwick woman with her Pumpkaboo. A fitting pairing no? “Oh, I don’t mind.” She replied, before moving Nalani into her lap, the Noibat pouting some as he was enjoying the bench. But a quick stroke under the chin pepped him back up, once again bringing a light smile to her face. “If you don’t mind me saying, you two look like a great pairing.” She commented to the woman, as she moved just enough to allow full space to the Litwick to sit down.

"Thanks, little bugger followed me home from the pumpkin patch. Well, he hid in my hair and popped out when I got home, but same difference. Say hi, Poe." She recounts, parking her little red wagon before sitting down. The little pumpkin bad floated down to her lap and turned its face up to Naeva, chirping happily. There was a scar across one of his eyes, and a matching one on his pumpkin's face as well.
"He's my newest addition to the farm, still trying to get him to warm up to me. He does seem to like the new totem though." she chuckled, gently scratching the back of the bat's head. "So, what's your name?"

Hid in her hair? But it wasn’t even that bushy? Could she have also had a totem change curse from the Gourgeist? Maybe because of her picking up the pumpkaboo. “Hello Poe.” She greeted the pumpkin bat, thinking back to Ambre. “I got a pumpkaboo from the patch as well, though I believe she is much larger than Poe.” She commented, only then hearing about the totem remark, solidifying that this woman was indeed cursed. “Naeva, Naeva Dubois.” She introduced herself, “and this is Nalani.” She then introduced her Noibat, who waved and gave a warm and cheery chirp to the woman.

"My name's Winnie, Winnie Marks." Winnie introduced back. Wait, Naeva? Was this the same Naeva that had Raoul crying on her couch eating three pints of ice cream and watching all her romcoms with her on loop? "I wouldn't be surprised, Poe's a tiny boy. Say, don't you own a cafe in town?" she asked, her visible glowing yellow eye perking in interest.

“Pleasure to meet you...” she replied, though her voice trailed off slightly as her hands moved a bit more around Nalani, causing the Noibat to squirm some. Hearing the remark about Poe, she nodded her head mindlessly before she got asked about her cafe. “Oui, Cafe De I’lîe. You’ve heard about it?” She asked, a bit surprised that a stranger would know of her cafe, and a bit glad about it too since it meant her name was starting to grow.

"Yeah, one of my friends told me about it! I've been meaning to go visit it, I just haven't had the time lately." Winnie assures her. She frowns a little, noticing how...blue the girl looks. "Um....don't take this the wrong way, but you seem really...down. Are you alright?" Play oblivious, try and help both without having a clear hand in play...

“Oh, that’s great to hear.” She replied, not quite knowing that the woman was talking about Raoul to her, since she did have a few other customers come in and out, any number could her her friend. Though as she was asked about being ok, she sigh lightly. “I... I can’t I’m sure if I am or not...” she replied, rubbing her eye some. “I haven’t been getting much sleep lately... and well... im just going through a bit of a rough time...” she remarked, her calyx leaves dropping down some as she spoke. Nalani frowned, rubbing his head against Naeva’s arm, in an attempt to try and raise her spirits. “I’m sorry, I’m sure you don’t need to hear about my problems...” she apologized, not wanting to give this as the first impression to Winnie.

"No, really, it's fine. Sometimes it's better to talk to someone with an outside perspective of things." Winnie reassured her. Poe nudged her stomach, confused. Why was the pastry lady so sad? Why was everything gloomy alla sudden? "I mean, you don't have to tell me if you don't want to, I just...if there's a way I could help, I'm offering." she adds. Maybe it'd be better to leave the knowledge of Raoul as her next door neighbor for now...

Looking back at Winnie, she tried to compose herself the best she could. She didn’t want to be all gloom and doom, since she knew it wasn’t who she was. But the dreams... they were haunting her. “I... I’m just going through a rough time with a close friend... “ she admitted, not giving out a name though. “We just, seemed so close but all of a sudden... we’ve seemingly been growing apart from one another…”

"I see...how close is 'close'?  Like, 'childhood friends' close or 'one sided romantic tension' close?...sorry, too many romcoms, ignore that second one." Winnie hurriedly corrects herself. Stupid 50 First Dates, she was throwing that movie out the window when she got home! "Well, sometimes things happen that drives friends apart, and they don't even have to be anyone's fault. Even a lack of communication can throw the whole thing." she explains, petting her Pumpkaboo's head.

“Well... we only met here on the island... but I thought we were really close, like really really good friends. I mean, even closer than best friends...” she replied, oblivious to the romcom comment even. Raoul hadn’t shown her any romantic tendency, so why would it be romantic tension? But looking back at her when she gave some advice, she thought about it. “But... what if you do say that you’re really good friends and even that seems to cause problems?” She asked, her heart tightening up some.

"...I think I need to  know what happened. Even the setting can make a big impact on meanings of words. If it's what I think happened...well, never mind. When did you tell them that, exactly?" Winnie carefully requested. She could hear her internal romance-knowledge and conscience screaming blue murder, but she tuned it out to listen to the plant girl next to her. She just had to hang in there…

“The other day...” she replied. “We were together with a friend at a picnic... he asked to be alone with me... and he told me her liked me, and I told him I liked him. But then.... he started getting nervous and fidgety... like he was having a panic attack or something...” she replied, the vision of the nightmare creeping back into her mind. “Then... then...” she stuttered, looking down at Nalani, who was trying to continue his constant comfort to cheer her up.

Winnie gently put a hand on her shoulder, giving her a reassuring squeeze. "When a guy tells you he likes you...like, really REALLY likes you...it can mean yes, like a friend, but it can also mean...well, he'd like to be more than just friends." she gently explains, looking at her face. "Wait, panic attack?”

The hand on her shoulder did it. Tears rolled down her face, as she turns to cling to the woman, as if not wanting to lose them either. She couldn’t respond, but just the feeling of someone with her was oddly soothing to her. She was reassured that she wasn’t alone, and was with others.

Okay, crying girl clinging to her, one she literally just met. Winnie slowly wrapped her arms around the girl, gently rubbing her back. "It's okay, it's gonna be okay...I bet if you talk to him, he'll understand..." Winnie quietly hushed her. Poe clambered out of the embrace and floated over to the wagon, digging something out. Whether it was something helpful like tissues or something inane remained to be seen.

Silently crying in the woman’s arms, she let some time pass as she tried to recompose herself. Soon the Steenee lifted her head, and pulled away from Winnie. “S-Sorry about that. I didn’t mean to make a big scene like that...” she apologized, tears still on her face as she looked at the woman.

"Don't be, you needed that." Winnie dismisses, looking to her wagon to pull out a pack of tissues. "Do you feel any better at least?”

Taking in a deep breathe, she looked back at Winnie. "I think so..." She replied softly, beginning to wipe some of the tears away from her face.

"That's good." Winnie sighed slightly in relief, nodding. "If you want or need anything, you can feel free to talk to me. I live on a farm on Affection Atoll, Hazel Acres." Winnie explained, patting the girl's back, only to jerk as something bonked the back of her purple haired head. "What the sprou-?!"

"PUMKA-BOO~!"

Winnie shot a flat look at the Pumpkaboo flapping behind her, rubbing her head. "Poe, now is NOT the time for ukulele anthem, put it down!" she scolds, taking the small instrument from the pumpkin bat's grasp.

Naeva smiled as Winnie comforted her, and even when she offered time to talk if she needed is. "Th-thank you." She replied before seeing the latest antics with Poe & Winnie. The responses did cause her to smile, and even provoked a light laugh. "You play the ukulele in your spare time?" She asked, enjoying hearing other's hobbies.

"Very rarely, but that's part of the fun. I have a couple ukuleles because even though I'm no expert it's still a great thing to play." Winnie replied, showing how to hold the instrument, before a thought occurred to her. "Hey...that Music Festival is coming up. You want one? I could show you how to play a song on it." Winnie offered. "It's a good stress relief.”

Thinking about the music festival, she didn't quite think of playing the ukelele, though she did have a plan in mind already. "Thank you, but I will have to decline. I've been planning on singing at the event, something nice and light from my childhood." She replied with a smile. "But, if you don't mind, I wouldn't mind hearing a song from you." She added, her calyx leaves rising up some as she spoke.

"Suit yourself. I'm not really a great singer, but here goes~!" Winnie warned her, before starting to strum. She's not the best singer, and the lyrics are somewhat random, but she's having fun. "So play your favorite cover song, especially if the words are wrong! 'Cause even if your grades are bad it doesn't mean you're failing~!!" she sang out, Poe cheering along out of tune because pumpkin bat did not yet know the song.

Naeva sat, listening to the song from Winnie, and at the start it sounded pretty nice. Though as the song went along, a blush of embarrassment started to creep across her face. The woman's voice wasn't bad, not was her performing, but the lyrics did get a bit too much for her pure mind. But on a positive note... she wasn't sad anymore. Watching Poe cheer on Winnie was helping to block most of the lyrics away. Nalani, on the other hand, was burying his head against Naeva, covering his ears from the sound. Perhaps he wasn't a fan of her singing... or the ukulele?

"So plaaaaaay your ukuleleeee~!" she finished, parodying a rocker pose at the last note. Poe was cheering happily, and Winnie giggled, rubbing the pumpkin's head. "See? Works every time!" she laughed, setting her ukulele back in her wagon before turning to look at Naeva. "You sure look less sad now, Naeva!"

The blush still on her face, she had to say something. "You... you did sing and perform well." She replied, rubbing the back of her head as Nalani kept his head buried. Though as Winnie pointed out, she couldn't deny she wasn't sad looking. Tired, yes, but she was a bit better. "Y-yeah, I guess I'm starting to cheer up some..." She replied with a smile.

"Good!" Winnie smiled, picking up her Pumpkaboo once more. "Well, I'm glad I was able to help you a little. Being exhausted and sad is the worst.”

Nodding her head, she patted Nalani's head as she looked over to Winnie. "Oui, it can be rather tiring..." She started to reply as a yawn interrupted her. "really tiring I guess..." She  added, a light smile on her face.

"You need any help getting home? You look ready to fall asleep on the bench." Winnie noted, Poe floating over to smoosh his face against the sleepy Steenee's cheek.

"I uh..." She started to reply, before the slight smooch from Poe caught her off. Smiling as she placed her hand against her cheek, she looked back at Winnie. "Oh, right.... I would appreciate that, thank you." She replied, as Nalani soon poked his head back up from being buried into Naeva.

Winnie shook her head at the overly affectionate pumpkin. "Did I adopt a pumpkin bat or a flying dog...?" she joked as she stood and grabbed her wagon handle, then offered a hand to help Naeva up. "No trouble at all! Now I'll know exactly where your cafe is so I can raid your stock on a later date! Er...I mean, drop by for baked goods." she laughed a little. Wording is still a thing, Winnie…

Laughing a bit, she took Winnie's hand to get up from the bench, a bit of a stagger as she had been sitting down for a while now. "My apologies, I guess my legs fell asleep." She commented as she soon was able to stand upright properly. Not quite picking up on Winnie's sly remark of raiding her cafe, she only picked up on the comment about her goods. "I do love to have people come by my cafe, so you are more than welcome to come~" She replied with a smile. So long as Winnie doesn't come in like a durant, she'd be fine.

Considering Winnie's more likely to waltz in before opening or after closing it'd doubtful that she'll be stomped on. Nevertheless she helps Naeva walk until the Steenee can walk again. "Not a problem! Do you happen to have galettes at your cafe? I haven't had any since I moved away from Lumiose..." she inquired, carrying her Pumpkaboo on her head once more.

Hearing the comment about Lumiose did perk the young woman up. “Oh, you come from Lumiose? I studied there. Unfortunately I don’t have gallete. But if I grow enough, and well... learn the proper techniques, I’d love to serve it.” She replied, joyed that another person she met is from Kalos.

"I could tell you were from Kalos, so I figured you'd at least know about it. I think you could make it!" she perks up, her glowing hair floating behind her. She continued to walk with her new acquaintance, hopeful that both she and Raoul would make up soon and that her baked goods would be worthy of having around for her video game marathons.

Hearing the woman’s kind words did help keep her pepped up. “Je vous remercie~ I hope I can work on getting gallete in my cafe~” she replied as she walked with Winnie, glad she met someone who was helpful in getting her back in the right mindset.
