More Random Shorts!!
Some are inspired by songs, others have been stuck in my head, I'm stranded out here with limited Internet access, just read on!

Part 1.

Snow White Queen- Evanescence

Reena closed the bathroom door behind her, locking it. She closed the shades, and turned on the fan, before turning the water on, waiting for it to get warm. The sink was dripping again, the dripping sound echoing around the room.

Drip...

Drip...

She hesitated, then slowly took her clothes off, glancing at her reflection in the mirror. She blinked, before sighing sadly. Even now, all these years, she could still see the scars marring her would-be smooth skin, each serving as individual reminders of that time in her life...

Drip...

Drip...

Drip...

Drip...

The little girl was tied crucification-style to a board of wood suspended from the ceiling by chains. She was completely limp, just hanging by her arms and shoulders. Her arms and chest were marred with open slash marks, whip marks, and stab wounds, and her blood was dripping down her  broken legs onto the stone floor below...

Drip...

Drip...

She could see her reflection in the large mirror that had been set up in front of her. Here eyes were half open, so she could see just how pathetic and helpless she was. She was having trouble breathing, so she couldn't scream anymore without spitting up more blood...

Drip...

Drip...

Her ears barely picked up the sound of the  door opening, and the sound of footsteps walking toward her. All too soon, she was looking into the mismatched red eyes again, and she didn't even have enough strength to turn her head away from the monster's face...
"You're an abomination, a freak of nature. You're just another worthless child in a world full of arrogance and hatred. You don't deserve life anymore than a creature like me..." the being hissed cruelly...

Drip...

Drip...

Drip...

Drip...

Reena's eyes snapped back open, water overflowing the tub. She shakily turned off the water and let some out, before shakily stepping into the water and dipping her head under.
She had been stabbed, burned, crushed, whipped, and broken so many times before, and the remnants of it all etched across her body like a macabre artist's sketchings...

Never again...

She never wanted to go back there ever again...

Part 2.

Waiting Around to Die- The Be Good Tanyas

Lucy stared at the small glass in her hand, garnet-colored liquid swirling around gently in its container. She wasn't terribly picky about what she drank, but she did have a soft spot for raspberry wine and other dessert-type wines. She wasn't an alcoholic, she just happened to be fond of the flavor.

She was riding on a train, or rather, she had hitched a ride on it. Trains were scarce in Nightmare, but there were a couple here and there. She knew she could probably have just stayed with her "mom" and her friends at that one place, but she didn't allow herself to. It was stupid, it was suicidal, and it wouldn't change anything, but she still wanted to do it.

She wanted to go to Dark Mountain. She wanted to see her dad, even though nothing would change. She wanted to at least see what he looked like, before continuing on her destination-less journey...

Lucy sighed, slowly sipping her wine, and placing the now-empty glass in her rucksack. She then looked at the passing landscape, as a drifter across the room playing a melancholy tune on the harmonica.

"...well I tried to kill the pain...I bought some wine and hopped a train...but it's easier just waiting around to die..." Lucy slowly sang to herself, staring at the changing scenery.

Part 3

Purpose- Avenue Q

Bug was flying through the town, Chirpy riding on his head, and resume in hand, grinning. He had gotten a call-back for a job application, and now he was going to the interview.  Chirpy wouldn't stop trying to cling to his head, so she was coming along, if just for a free crepe. Yes, Bug was applying for a job at a crepe cafe.
Chirpy was nestled in Bug's hair, purring happily, feeler twitching in the wind. Bug smiled slightly, wrapping a bit of gauze around his second mouth so that it wouldn't drool during the interview or just freak out anyone. He needed a job and purpose too much to just let it show. If he didn't find something soon, Leelu might try to kill him again!

Finally, Bug touched down outside, grinning at the cafe sign. Well, here goes nothing...

Part 3.

Kiss Me- Sixpence None The Richer

Speckles and Cory laughed as they ran through the forest, heading to their secret hideaway. It was their personal fortress, their sanctuary from the rest of the mature world. Cory floated across the brook as Speckles climbed across the fallen tree bridge, both happily smiling as they neared the tree house.
Cory turned on the half-broken radio and they danced with each other, content with the other's company. Cory would dip and spin Speckles, and Speckles would fix the radio and help Cory fix his dance moves, despite him having been the one who originally took the class.
Neither had a care as their dancing slowed to calmer, refined waltz. Neither minded when they drew each other close, Cory smiling down at Speckles and Speckles grinning up at him. All that mattered was that they had each other, and that no one and nothing could ever take that away from them. They would lean closer to each other, and share one kiss, before continuing to dance, not a care in the world. It didn't matter if there was chaos in the outside world; as long as they had each other, they were invincible...

Part 4.

Defying Gravity- Wicked

Lucy was standing on the edge of a large cliff. She stared at the vast countryside below, before taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes and fell over the edge of the cliff, plummeting towards the ground below.
The wind howled in her ears, her hair whipped back, but she kept her eyes closed, instead focusing her energy to her back. The darkness swirled, and solidified into a pair of black wings. She flapped her new wings, then soared into the air, flying over the countryside.
No one, not a king, no one in Nightmare, was going to bring her down!!

Part 5.

Everybody's Fool- Evanescence

Orion struggled, trying to break free. The bullies had cornered him on a bridge, and now two of them were holding him back as a third one dangled his Grimmy doll over the rushing river below. Orion was on the verge of a panic attack, and thrashing like mad, trying to break free as the thugs laughed.

"Oh, you want your widdle doll? Then go get it!" the leader laughed. Orion's eyes widened, and everything seemed to slow down as the punk hurled Grimmy over the edge, the old doll plunking into the current below.

Orion wasn't sure what happened next. One second he was being held back, then he was running for the edge, then he had jumped over the edge, and crashed into the cold deep water. He struggled, not knowing how to swim, the current rushing over him as he struggled.
The thugs panicked and took off, not wanting to get in trouble for a kid drowning himself.

Orion kicked in the water, barely able to see his doll floating in the water up ahead. He gasped for breath, barely able to stay above the deep water for two seconds before the current tumbled over him again...

Jack was jumping along, humming a merry little tune. What should he do tonight? Perhaps he could go rig a prank on little miss Reena again, or visit his lovely little Envy doll-
Speaking of dolls, what was that doll doing on the edge of the riverbank? Jack halted, then crouched down next to the waterlogged doll. It looked vaguely familia-that's right, that Orion kid had a doll just like this one!...wait, wasn't this his doll?
"If this is the doll, where's the boy?" Jack wondered, gently picking up the soaked doll. Even HE knew the kid never went so much as two feet away from this doll at a time. Jack looked around, wondering where the little mute kid had gone-

Oh, no. Oh NO. OH NO.

"ORION!!" Jack shrieked, leaping into the water and grabbing the motionless boy floating on the surface. Said kid didn't respond, and Jack felt a cold feeling sink in as he dragged the boy to shore. He laid the boy out, and set out trying to get him to breathe.

"Come on, breathe, Orion! BREATHE!!" Jack screamed, compressing the boy's chest in an attempt to get him breathing. No response.
"Come on, Oreo! Please don't make me kiss you!!" Jack cried out, still trying to resuscitate the boy. He heard a loud crack sound; he had broken one of his ribs by mistake.
"Breathe Orion, BREATHE!!" Jack screamed again. Orion's body shook as he coughed up water, and he continued coughing violently, seeming shocked to be breathing again. Jack sat him up, rubbing the boy's back in an attempt to help him breathe better. Orion coughed for another minute or so, before blacking out yet again...

Orion slowly opened his eyes, a barrage of bright colors greeting his sore eyes. He groaned silently, shutting his eyes and hoping fall back asleep-

"HE'S AVAKE!!"

-only to get glomped by two blurs.

Orion struggled, trying to sit up and figure out what the heck was going on, and trying not to hurl.
"Are jou okay?" Pan asked.
You drowned back zere, then Uncle Jack feeshed jou out!" Dora added.
"Did jou see a sqvuid in ze water?" both asked.
Orion blinked slowly; what was he doing back in the circus tent? Where was his doll?!
"Jack is feexing ze doll in ze other room!" Dora said, giggling.
"And don't vorry about ze bullies..." Pan added in a strange tone.
"Ve took care of zem..." Dora finished in a similar tone, both grinning devilishly.
Orion blinked...then promptly plunked his head back onto the pillow and fell back asleep.

Sometimes, it's better not to ask too many questions...especially if it has German-sounding twins and psycho-spring-legs involved...

Part 6

Walk Like An Egyptian- The Bangles, and Everlong- Foo Fighters

Speckles was racing through the streets of Dark Mountain's biggest city, cackling as she rollerbladed through the streets, passersby diving for cover. Andante was flying next to her, keeping up easily as he flew next to her. The blue-haired baby had definitely inherited his father's and his grandfather's flying skills as he loop-de-looped next to her.

The two stopped at stop light, for once waiting for traffic to slow before racing across. Some punks on skateboards pulled up, snickering at Speckles' dress and Andy's baby sweater. Speckles glared, clearly sensing the challenge. She stuck Andy's helmet on his head, then got into a starting position. The punks got their wheels ready, and both parties rocketed through as soon as the light turned green.

Speckles and Andy were streaking through the crowds, currently in the lead. Speckles giggled, giddy from the adrenaline pumping through her. She hit a tow truck like a skater would hit a ramp, and went flying into the air, Andy soaring next to her. The punks could only gape as mother and son flew through the air.
Speckles smirked, seeming to float in the air as Andy giggled next to her. Electric blue magic appeared out of her back and formed a pair of speckled moth wings, and she soared even higher into the air, Andy flying after her, babbling happily, Mother and son flipped off the punks, then flew off into the cloudy night sky, both as bright together as a light blue shooting star.
