Breaking Down

She was pregnant.

She was pregnant.

It had been two weeks since Hanyuu had dropped that reality on Myu, and she was still in shock. She was huddled on her couch, hugging a pillow and occasionally glancing at her slightly swollen abdomen, the same sentence echoing through her her head like a cruel mantra, mocking her.

She was pregnant.

How could this happen?

HOW COULD SHE BE PREGNANT?!?!

She took a deep breath, and tried to clear her thoughts. Okay, time to figure things out...what could have made this possible? She was a virgin, and she was pregnant? When did THAT happen outside dumb stories that mortal humans obsessed over?

She thought back, and vaguely remembered the battle Hanyuu had fought against that one demon. She remembered something blasting her in her abdomen, and feeling as if fire was rushing through her blood and her guts feeling like molten metal was being poured into them, then she had hit the wall, and everything went black. But the pain had still been there, she had felt the burning sensation of being boiled alive from the inside out, even in the darkness of unconsciousness. It had faded slowly over several days, but she hadn't shown it at the time, for fear of Hanyuu worrying. But after she hit her period after the event, the burning had almost vanished completely...

Part of her wondered if that had anything to do with what had happened now, but a bigger part of her was concerned with a bigger question; who was the father?

"Okay...let's go back...I was feeling fine about...two months ago. That was when I beat the crap out of Jackle at the mall. That was before...that, but I was already feeling sick when that happened, so that excludes that freak as the father...but then...that means..." Myu froze.

No.

Oh HELL NO!!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

THE ONE WAY TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY?!

"IS THIS DAMN WORLD TRYING TO BRING ME TO MY KNEES?!" Myu screamed in distress.

"HEY! Keep it down up there, ya crazy bitch!!" the tenant downstairs yelled through the floor.

"SCREW YOU, YA GRUMPY OLD FART!!" Myu shot back at them, before standing up and walking to her kitchen.

"Okay...I'm pregnant...it's possibly Jackle-spawn...okay, I need to calm down..." Myu groaned, reaching into the freezer and pulling out a small container of chocolate ice cream, before pulling out a spoon and beginning to eat the frozen treat.

That was another thing; she was always hungry.
But as much as her cravings demanded her to pig out, she limited herself to only small amounts of what she wanted, plus healthier foods. Pregnant or not, she HAD to keep at least SOME semblance of her diet regular. If she went back to work overweight in the SLIGHTEST, she could kiss her single source of income goodbye.

Normally, the only way she'd be able to HOPE to get paid enough to support just herself was by pole dancing, stripping on a stage in front of horny drunk perverts, and being a waitress, since she flat-out REFUSED to prostitute herself like some 20 dollar Manhattan whore like the other waitresses on the job. Unfortunately, the sluts always got paid more, seeing as how they were always needing money for either abortions, child support, or sexually transmitted disease treatments. So, she was on low enough income already, and now she was pretty much forced to spend what little savings she had trying to support herself while she was pregnant, and THEN she wouldn't be able to save HALF as much, just from trying to support herself AND a newborn child.

Add that to the fact she was behind in her rent by a good 2 months, the actual pregnancy, and the thought of the actual day she'd have to give birth...

Myu put down the ice cream, now feeling sick. At this point, it was no WONDER she was at near-nervous collapse. She'd asked Hanyuu what giving birth had been like, once...

"Myu, this is the plain truth. I WOULD RATHER HAVE MY VAGINA WAXED A HUNDRED TIMES BEFORE EVER GOING THROUGH LABOR EVER AGAIN!!" Hanyuu yelled, shaking Myu by the shoulders rather violently.

Myu suppressed the urge to gag; Hanyuu had made the fact that labor was painful AGONIZINGLY clear, and she hadn't even been a virgin, like herself. If normal labor was painful for someone who HAD lost their virginity, then for all she knew, she might even risk dying if she went into labor...

Myu moaned miserably, collapsing to her knees and leaning against the counter, staring at her abdomen. She had considered getting an abortion earlier that week...

Myu slipped into the center, covering her nose at the slightest whiff of doctor's office. Oh god, how she hated that smell...

She shook her head, and walked up to the counter, blinking at the what looked like a punk boy sitting behind the counter playing a handheld. At least, she HOPED it was a boy...

"Um, excuse me...?" she stuttered, addressing the "it."
"Welcome to Women now, where we help both men AND women now. Would you care for a complementary condom?" it droned in a bored tone, pushing a decorative bowl full of multiple colored condoms forward.
"Um, no thanks. I heard this place did walk-in abortions?" Myu asked, uncomfortable by the atmosphere. The thing behind the desk looked up, seeming to sneer at her.
"First timers..." it grumbled, before pulling out a clipboard and form and handing it to her.

But Myu was staring at the posters and diagrams around the clinic, namely the ones about how the abortions were performed. She felt the blood drain from her face at the poster of what looked like a C-section. She felt an uncontrollable wave of nausea hit her, and she grabbed the counter, feeling herself get woozy and losing her sense of balance...

"Well? Are you gonna take the clipboard or not?" the thing behind the counter asked impatiently.

Myu, fearing she'd throw up if she opened her mouth, shook her head, and threw the door open, sprinting out of the hellish clinic.

Myu sighed, rubbing her abdomen. As scared as she was of this, she couldn't get an abortion. She respected people who did choose to get one instead of pregnancy, but she herself couldn't force herself to go through with that...with things stabbing into her or cutting her open, like-

Myu shook her head and covered her ears, almost hearing her pack's dying howls echoing in her head. No, no, she couldn't go through with it, not after seeing her pack getting slaughtered in a horribly similar way...
She sighed again, looking down at her abdomen.

"...maybe I'll survive giving birth to you...but then what do I do...?" Myu whispered, tears rolling down her cheeks.
