Description

This video is a script I was working on awhile back to give a quick look at an animation file.  It was written for blender 249b.  I hope someday to have a version that will work in later versions of blender.

You can download the zip here: TM ANM Analyzer .

If you place the script in your blender installation scripts folder, you can invoke it from the file menu as file->import->ANM Analyzer.  I tested this script by running it in a text window, but I find that it runs a lot slower if you do that.

The way the script works is that it loads the animation file and then loads a costume or prop required to play the animation.  If the costume is an actor, it loads woody, and if it is an animal, it will load an animal with the appropriate number of bones (a horse, for example, has 59 bones, and woody has 30 bones).

Metaprops are identified by groups.  If the group is "gun_ca" it loads an ak-47 prop.  If the group is "bashing_ca" it loads a baseball bat.  So, if you load an animation of a guy knocking down a door with an axe, you get woody using a baseball bat for an axe.

The idea is to be able to quickly browse through a lot of animations easily to find one appropriate for a scene.

The script works fairly well for most actor/prop combinations.  You can run it again and again in the same scene.  I prefer to use the solid view when using this script.  The texture view gets messed up after the first execution.  If you wish, you can fix that in the UV Image editor and setup nice blender renders.
