requested description:

"What I'm looking for is something a little akin to the Power Loader from Aliens, but with more armour to the front, proper (if clumsy) hands instead of those big claw things, and three-sectioned legs with long feet, a bit like a dog's or a kangaroo's rear legs. You'll probably have to make the feet quite large or with spread toes to make it look stable. Basically, a human kneels down in the back, so that the top two sections of the legs fit into the machine's legs and the foot lies down the back of the third section of leg. If you have trouble visualising this I can email you a badly-drawn diagram. The arms fit neatly into the machine's arms. All limbs and parts should be augmented by pneumatics, and the usual steam exhausts/boilers and stuff."

since the style is steampunk, and this is a combat heavy unit i based a lot of the designs from that of steam locomotives, its also less ornamental than some of the other stuff i've done in this series.

also note that i know the foot/ankle joints are very week from a engineering/technical standpoint, i finished the left one (its right) first and than realized that its right foot was at an angle lol... sux 2 be me... so i had to compromise a lot of the joints to make it work... you have no freaking idea how hard it is making a powered combat suit thats powered by steam and pistons... but i hope i did a good job of hiding the questionable joints

anyway, inking starts tomorrow pending conformation of design

edit* im not sure if i like the infamous 'loin flaps' i may just turn them into 2 solid sheets of rivited steal to make the transition from roman gladiator to... walking train

Very cool. The only thing I can crit is the skirt armor. Doesn't fit very well at all. The rest is very cool, tho I'm still trying to figure out where the guys legs go. >_< (The head area reminds me of a Z'Gok to no end.... it's wierd)

lol, well i tried... i actually was toying with the idea of the cowcather, but i already tried it on the knees and wasn't that happy, oh well, im really happy with how it turned out. anyway, as for the legs (as said in the description of the pencil wip) the mech's legs are structured like a dog or kangaroo, where the foot is elongated and it walks on its toes. the human inside's legs fit in all the way up to the armor's ankle joint.

Bloody hell that was fast, I only gave you the brief the other day LOL! It looks great. I agree with Sempai-Tem that a little ornamentation would be cool just to set the style off. I like the idea of a crest, but definately not on the shoulder guard. People might think I'm trying to emulate Games Workshop's Space Marines and that's the last thing I want. On the stomach maybe, or even in the form of a tapestry hanging from the hips or over each shoulder like one of those Jewish scarf things (sorry any Jews reading this, I honestly don't know what they're called, something in Hebrew I think like Yamulkah or somesuch but I just don't speak the language. Oh, and happy Hannukah) but don't worry about that too much if it's a hassle, it looks fantastic. Can't wait to see the inked version.

Oh yes, and the foot design is cool. Don't worry about mechanical likelihood in this case, Pseudoscience takes care of all that it's almost as good as magic sometimes. The thing I like about the long feet is that when the machine is running at high speeds, the rear part can be pulled up against the back of the leg for extra speed, and let down when it slows to provide extra stability, and a little extra push when jumping.

Looks great! Fantastic design with lots of details. With those stripes hanging from his belt he looks like a true warrior!

I say don't skip the ornamental designs. I think there should be something of a crest either on the chest or the Shoulder front. (possible where that X on the front is) To be able to see who's who on the battle field. And that crest could be molded not painted. When I think Steampunk. I think of Victorian sensibilities. So you need to be a gentlemen and have your colors/crest readily available.

On the loin skirt yeah that could go. Maybe design the area like those cow catchers that were put on front of steam engines of old.

Also the feet design, I'd go for more angular then rounded and tapered. Even tanks in WW1 were squarish in looks. the front of the foot seems missing, something needed if traveling downhill... even though the weight is pitched to the back. Maybe repeat the cow catcher theme on the front lowwer legs as well so they can kick though battlefield debris.

Just a couple of ideas I'm just kicking around. Hope that helps.

Sorry but it doesn't look steampowered at all. Don't think it ever could, if you pull it off... damn. Does look very industrial though, maybe the coloring will make it look more steamish (??? ignore me...). At the moment I think steam would look like smoke exhaust to pipe out the heat the armor must create. Looks incredible though and I wish I could kill you and absorb your skills.
