A stamp I made saying "Sonic Lives On Mobius Not Earth!", made this stamp because I am getting sick of people thinking that Sonic lives on Earth. The image in the stamp is Planet Mobius. In the Classic game canon Sonic lived on planet Mobius.Related content

in the comic, Earth was invaded by an alien race called the Xorda. They dropped "Gene Bombs" on to the planet, basically causing the human race to evolve backwards or something, and then human DNA mixed w/ the animals, causing them to mutate into Mobians, then years and years and years and centuries later, we have Sonic's World.

I don't see what the big deal is. Does it matter which planet the series takes place on? Sonic could be living on frickin' Pluto and it wouldn't be any different.
And even though this was recently retconed, Mobius and Earth are the same planet. I mean, where in the universe would you find a planet with sentient animals distinctly similar to our own? And even if Sonic does live on Earth, it's a completely different Earth. You can't find places like South Island, Spagonia, or Westopolis anywhere on our Earth.
With that in mind, what excuse is there that Sonic should be on "Mobius"? This makes all these arguments rather pointless.

This is what really happend, classic sonic, was in SEGA's office(lol) SEGA was descussing something quietly to themselfs, THAN!!!! SEGA, locked classic sonic in the cupbored for over 15 years. until SEGA figured out what they did was wrong, they unlocked the cupbored, and found out that classic sonic killed himself, because he was sad. very sad111,so SEGA paniced, and then they to him to the RSPCA, they did nothing, his body was like rotten and stuff,and so SEGA clonned sonic, and than he grew up into modern sonic, than one day classic sonic walked down the stairs from heaven, because SEGA asked him to be in the next sonic game, so he like said yes, and his soul, went back into his body, and he cleaned him self up, but he couldn't talk, so he was silent. and den everyone was happy, and thats the real plot of sonic generations.

I sort of go with the Sonic X explanation in that Sonic was on Mobius in the early games but for some reason or another was transported to Earth, though this is never explained in the games so I'm probably horribly wrong, plus I hated Sonic X.

To me Sonic is and always was on Mobius. The reason for why it looks like Earth in the new games, is because SonicTeam added Sonic into the 3D world, they made him more realistic and it looked like as if Sonic was on Earth, but really he's not, well it really depends on what kind of fan you are. Me I'm a Classic American Sonic fan.
and I also hated Sonic X, ugh I just dont want to talk about that show.. Was very painful to watch.

Sonic X had 2 cool things in the entire series. 1: They actually acknowledged Sonic is from a different planet and explained why he was suddenly on Earth in the new games and 2: Dark Sonic, who was a pretty cool concept, but Sonic X did not elaborate on him AT ALL! They just threw him in for 2 minutes in one episode and never showed or mentioned him again. Everything else about the show was abysmal, especially the even more butchered 4Kids version.
I too am a Classic Sonic fan. I grew up with the knowledge that Sonic was from Mobius and practically every Sonic media acknowledged that at the very least Sonic was from another planet (Planet Mobius, Planet Freedom, ect.). It seemed very awkward to me when Sega just sort of threw him on Earth and claimed he was always there to begin with.

Yes, Sonic does live on Mobius. Mobius is Sonic's home world, it all started in 1991 were SoA was making the story for the Sonic games.
