This is amazing for a first attempt!
I think the only thing that needs improvement might just be the lemon, since it looks too smooth. This lovely

ah thanks
oil painting is challenging, but just keep working at it and find a kind of "mentor" who can help you (aka art teacher)

I remember doing a similar picture when I got my first pastel set. (I was around 13 years old I think.) Very nice work!

I agree that the watermark seriously detracts from what is otherwise an amazing still life painting. It is a great arrangement of the pieces, and the texture you achieved with the table top is perfect. It is quite realistic looking and a fantastic deviation that I like very much.

Wonderful still. True colors. Bad watermark

meh sorry... I am really trying to take a better picture... but i'm so busy making other art xD plus I don't want people stealing it... perhaps I should make my own watermark and put it happily in the corner where it will be less noticeable

arphot In reply to lego30051 [2010-09-15 00:54:14 +0000 UTC]

Yes a nice signature or logo or even watermark that doesn't detract from your wonderful art. Check into digital watermarks maybe? I have to say it when I see them though and dA's watermark can be very distracting in that when people view your art they cannot enjoy it and then what was your effort for? Post low res 1024x768's or something. I know it's tough and maybe I sound ignorant but since I am nobody's critic, as I see art and like it vs analyzing it (like those snobby-poos in the galleries thinking everything must be Monet or VanGogh), my eyes tell me . . . arrrrghhhh, not another WM!??!!?

Anyhoo . . . thanks for listening . . . I really do think you're talented.

no, you are not even close to brutal xD now my art class and teacher can be brutal but in a good way

i think im one of those snobby-poos though xD I'm so critical of other people's work... I always see possible improvement (unless it's out of this world).

thanks for the word of advice about watermarks.

I think this piece shows great potential I just love it. I love the concept, the layout, the flow and the colors. Keep up the great work, A sincere artist is not one who makes a faithful attempt to put on to canvas what is in front of him, but one who tries to create something which is, in itself, a living thing and I think that is what you have achieved. Thank you for all your hard work, keep it up. Again Love it. Woot!

Cheers,
Rorke
