The shot in itself is a interesting, but it lacks a real subject. Keep in mind the rule of thirds, the golden ratio, or even the spiral (I cant remember what that one is called)
Compositionally, the inclusion of the woman and her invisible (all but his shoe) companion gives an interesting layer to the image, but I feel that if the shot had to include her, she should be the focal point of the image, thus making the man in the foreground either non-existent, or out of focus.
Based on the man facing to the right, I would recommend composing shots like this with the bias towards empty, or extra space, to be in front of the man, rather than behind him.
I like the shadow falling across the mans sweater, but would have liked to see a little more detail in the highlights, perhaps a little more brightness/contrast added in PS would help to 'un-flatten' the sweater.
The shot is interesting, but the composition could have been better. Compositional elements in a photo are like grain on wood. Always best when they flow in the same direction... but sometimes the occasional 'knot' is ok

The white bit in the lower right hand corner is distracting, a little shaving perhaps but otherwise, classic shot!
