Another pencil practice, this time I drew Hades and Persephone. Why always Hades appear in movies as the villain? Zeus is a worst god than Hades.Artwork is Β© Me

People show up in the Underworld, see this, think they have to answer to Hades, but then realize Persephone is the real one to fear.

We humans have the natural fear of death and see Hades as a Satanic archetype, and we all have the same concept that light equals good, darkness equal darkness...that and also NO ONE bothers to actually done their research when it comes to pop culture medium.Β

Beautifully drawn! I like how proud and confident your Hades looks (I kind of like the spikes too -- they're Poseiden-ish with a hint of volcano rock). Persephone looks like she absolutely adores him, which is as it should be. Nice touch on her black painted nails. Also cool couch they're sitting on.
I agree, Hades always gets a bad reputation, yet he's probably one of the nicest ones. He's a hard worker and does his job faithfully. You don't see myths with Hades running around chasing everything in a skirt. He fell in love with one woman and even put up with grouchy mother-in-laws (I'm looking at you, Demeter). One time he protected Persephone from two guys trying to kidnap her by inviting them to dinner and promptly chaining them to their chairs. And apparently she loved him the same -- she brought the thunder down on a nymph who dared to flirt with him in front of her. Β Not to mention that the Greek translation of his three-headed dog is "Spot."

I totally agree with you, Zeus is worse and Hades is way better. He truly loves Persephone although I cannot say that he is really faithful to her but he is not like Zeus who chase every women goddess and mortal like a dog.

he's flirted with 2 other women but he never slept with either one of them. Mente was turned to mint by Persephone. the other when she demanded he leave Persephone and make her queen he destroyed her.

there is one myth where Persephone never ate the pomegranate seeds until her mother asked her. after she learned what it meant she told her mother she had as she ate 6 seeds right in front of her

I know right!? Hades is soooo much better than Zeus. Not to mention how charismatic he is <3 Hades is not evil, he's just dark. Persephone is lucky and I love how she grew to love him soon after his abduction.

In my opinion, in the myths, Zeus was supposed to show that being powerful doesn't always mean being fair or good guy... I actually dislike Zeus from all the gods....

first i love this pic is hot and really well drawn with pencil, second anyone else always think the original myth was just way out of character for hades cause when ever he is in or mentioned in the other myths he is the calm and collected type not the hey look a random goddees lets kidnapp and rape her, just dosent match. sorry for rant hades is my favorite god fom any mythology and i love him with persephone.

Not exactly 'left over', Hades/Persephone was used to explain winter, so He HAD to take the goddess of spring. There are plenty of other minor goddesses he could've had.
