I did something similar to this in high school, but less...legal. So by the time I was 16 I was 6'3 and had a beard, it was a petty beard at the time, but it was a beard never the less and as a result a good amount of places just assumed I was at least 18. So when somebody wanted to go buy smokes or beer, I tended to be the guy who they got to go get it, I'd say it worked about 75% of the time depending on how much the clerk was actually paying attention.
