Skype styles beta is finally out!What is it?
Skype styles is a new skin for the skype chat on mac. Not only it is a completely redesigned chat interface, it comes also with very handy features for people that use skype on a daily basis, like fast links drop down or code highlighting
That's right you coders out there will be finally able to exchange code over skype like in a real code editor!
how to install
1. Get to the site
2. download the dmg file
3. Open it by double-clicking on it
4. Double click on the only file in the window showed after doubleclicking on the DMG
5 Open Skype and just go to preferences --> messaging and change the style to SkypeStyles.com (you can always come back to original style by selecting panamericana style)
Note:
Only new conversations will take the skin. Already opened conversations stay with old skinning. Just close the conversation and talk to your firends again!

sql highlight (see help in skin)
social icons (see help in skin)
edited and new message fades and highlight
regular updates are planned. Do check regularly the check version button in help drop down.

I'd love this skin even more if it expanded images from links, for example if you put [link] - the image would show inline in the chat.

haha, that was a feature at first, but skype killed it with security updates. You cannot pull ANY data from outside of skype (ie, internet) and inject it into the chat html.

I'm very sorry. If it was for me I would have made a windows version, but unfortunately the structure of skype is completely different in mac and windows and the chat in windows skype is not skinnable at all. Sorry

hello. Normally that colored dot should appear just in multichatting (with more than two persons). It allows to spot persons quicker.

I digg it. Maybe you should mention that a reboot of the software is required in order for the style to show up in the menu. Also, of less importance, the name sounds a bit too generic: I was expecting a bunch of different style when visiting your websites, that's what the name suggests.
Finally, would have have a tutorial to create Skype styles? And finally finally, even though I doubt it, is it possible to change to whole window, as opposed to the chat window only?

Yes now a txt file is withing the dmg to help people install the skin. A script is also available for people that can't use the .style file.
I agree about the name, but our primary intension was to have many skins for this project. And it still is, multi skinning should come one of those days, and a complete documentation will be given for people to make their own skins.

cheaper yes, but i'm not sure about practical, as switching to Mac will make everything else as well easier for you
