aah its not that his hair gradients into purple, it's actually because I blended some blue lighting onto the left side of the picture and warm colored lighting is blended on the right side
i've been playing with colors lately and realizing that I don't need to be so by the book in order to make something look good ig

Oh wow, yeah that shit's rad. How does that work in Sai? I know in photoshop I would use a gradient layer and set the layer properties to "overlay" to create a similar effect. Is it a similar sort of thing in that software?

No, everything I do is done by hand, I don't use effects like that, honestly I couldn't even tell you if that was a similar sort of thing in sai because I've never bothered to look.
I don't really want to explain like, my process... but everything down to the last line of color is all done by hand using my brushes and whatnot.
