This stamp features an Indri, a type of Lemur!Some Indri ( Indri indri ) facts:
- Indris are the largest of all the Lemurs. At 2 feet long; 4 feet, with legs fully stretched; And an average of 13-17 pounds (although there are rumors of Indri weighing up to 23 lbs), these creatures are huge!
- Indris are famous for one mesmerizing ritual. Every morning, the Indri families will wake up and 'sing' to each other. Long, beautiful howls that have been compared to whale songs echo across Madagascar each morning. The families use these songs to keep in contact with other groups, to know where the other's ranges are.
- The Indris round ears, large size, and stumpy tail (Indri are the only Lemurs with a Vestigial tail.) give these Lemurs the appearance of a giant Teddy bear.
