Taken at Jungle Cat World in Orono, Ontario, Canada. This is a 2 1/2 year old Striped Hyena by the name of Shenzi with her Handler. Yes I was in the enclosure with them, having the opportunity to meet this amazing animal in person. Shenzi and her sister Bonzai were acquired from Italy recently, having been raised by humans. They are both very friendly animals. This zoo is a rescue zoo which acquires exotic animals who have been abused by humans, or have simply outgrown the ability of their humans to keep them.
