Description
This is a picture of a very good friend of mine and Shenzi who is a Striped Hyena at Jungle Cat World in Orono, Ontario, Canada. This zoo is a Rescue Zoo and takes in exotic animals who have been abused or outgrown their owners. Shenzi and her sister Bonzai were acquired from Italy and are a little over 2 years old. They had a good upbringing with their humans and are very friendly. Meeting them was an amazing experience. The Striped Hyena is considered Near Threatened by the IUCN.Hyenas have been on earth for 24 million years.
