Description 'We all float down here!'

I've had so many requests and challenges to draw Pennywise since the updated version of IT was released that I recently gave in and did this charming little (bloody) piece. I don't tend to do a lot of 'fan art' these days, but, I must admit that Bill Skarsgård's version of Pennywise is something pretty appealing to me. Several people have 'challenged' me to make him even creepier, but as I keep saying, it's hard to alter perfection! I see where all this is coming from though. I have kind of earned a reputation for sinister faces, and I do see some of Sweeney in Bill's clown, funnily enough.

By the way, the new Pennywise is one of those characters that I really wish I had designed myself. I absolutely love his washed out, ghostly/bloody palette and that vintage clown outfit is fantastic. I love the Pagliacci quality of it and the borrowing of details through the ages - the Fortuny pleated collar, the puffy shoulders and skirts, the boots, the porcelain gloves... and his crazy red hair, of course. I'm so jealous! Most of all though, I'm obsessed with his eyes. Those big yellow eyes that hint at the Deadlights behind them. I'm already mesmerised.

Anyway, enjoy this painting of a killer clown/entity (and apologies for if any details are off as I worked on this from memory). Also sorry for if it disturbs you. I personally don't have a fear of clowns. I find them neither scary nor funny, so, yeah. Clowns.

I'm doing splendidly. Just found out a month ago that I'm in remission. I've also been drawing
but just haven't been posting though. Before inktober is over I'll get something uploaded :3
It's great to see you.

That's fantastic news! What a relief - that's the best news anyone can hope for. It's great to hear that you're on the mend and drawing again! It's good therapy in itself.

Thank you Leona :3. I think it definitely gives you a psychological boost. It's funny because one of the works I'm in the middle of completing is a gritty, stylized
interpretation of Pennywise. So you can imagine my excitement when I come in and see your picture in my
Deviation stack.

Thank you very much! Ah yes, the book. I remember 'attempting' to read it as a teenager, but it was long with uncomfortable scenes and... I just put it down. The TV adaptation I found to be a bit of a ham too.

Those eyes see into the spaces between spaces! 😂

Nah, once I started the book I gave myself a word that I'd finish this rubbush. And I did. It was a real hell. So King'd better than whose who made the movie, the book's not worth it like at all.

Leopreston In reply to SpacePhoenix [2017-10-21 18:16:28 +0000 UTC]

Ha ha! Maybe the new film is breathing life into something that was slightly flawed then. I've heard that a lot of King's books have this build up and then end in disappointment. Booo!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SpacePhoenix In reply to Leopreston [2017-10-21 18:50:02 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, this new movie is only a half of the book. That's why I don't wanr they to shoot the second part 'cause the end of the book is really super-stupid.

Leopreston In reply to SpacePhoenix [2017-10-21 18:55:38 +0000 UTC]

Ha ha, well, I think they may well do the 'defeating IT in his own dimension' thing. Hopefully it'll be done well... unlike the giant spider. I have faith. 🙂

SpacePhoenix In reply to Leopreston [2017-10-22 10:45:44 +0000 UTC]

Sure. Spiders themselfs are jerks, and their possibility to eat you make them double jerks.
