They don't usually influence me, mostly I just want a record so I can see what I did when and I want to promote or un-promote some of the media I take in.

I see. I promote and un-promote (Demote?) both David Lynch's "Dune" and The Sci Fi Channel's "Frank Herbert's Dune". Even though they are both pretty bad, partly because of the story they are based on.

I thought the Lynch one was the better of the two:
better visuals and more concise. Hehe I agree, that
source story is not that special.

Really? I thought Frank Herbert's Dune was better. I'm not sure why. But we all have different opinions. And David Lynch made Eraserhead.
