Description Chrétien de Vaugeois, Count of Artois. Nicknamed “The Illustrious” or “The Patrician of Artois” by his contemporaries, Chrétien de Vaugeois is both the current head of House Vaugeois and the reigning Count of Artois. Amongst the current great lords of Aquitaine, It has been noted that Chrétien de Vaugeois is the most brilliant statesman amongst the vassals of The King of Aquitaine. It has also been noted that by tradition, it is The House of Vaugeois that has produced many of the finest minds for administration and statecraft amongst the great families of Aquitainian Nobility. For the majority of the history of The Kingdom of Aquitaine, it has always been The Vaugeois of Artois who served as the most cardinal of advisors within the councils of historic Kings of Aquitaine, and that this tradition is still alive and strong under the reigning Count of Artois. Outside his natural aptitudes for political and administrative thinking, Chrétien de Vaugeois is also a highly accomplished warrior and general amongst the great lords of Aquitaine.
