Description
Alexius VI, current head of The Imperial Household and 101st Emperor of Mankind. Artwork for a low-fantasy setting of my design with technology equivalent to the late medieval and renaissance periods. Where formations of heavily armoured and mounted knights fight alongside armies of pikemen and matchlock musketeers, where medieval-style stone castles are gradually being outsourced in favour of both lavish country estates and devoted military fortifications due to the advancements made in artillery technology, and where growing nation-states in the form of Kingdoms and Empires look beyond the boundaries of the known world in search of greater wealth and territory. In context to the lore of my fantasy setting, The Empire of Mankind is a feudal confederation of petty kingdoms, aristocratic fiefdoms, princely bisphorics, and free cities united under the feudal suzerainty of an elected overlord known as The Emperor of Mankind, whose sovereign and hereditary rule applies only to a domain within The Empire of Mankind Proper known as The Reichstadt, or my fantasy setting’s rough equivalent to Austria-Hungary under The Hapsburg Monarchy from the late middle ages to the early 19th century. The Empire of Mankind itself is loosely modeled and inspired by both The Holy Roman Empire from medieval and early modern European history, as well as taking influences from The Eastern Roman, or “Byzantine” Empire from late antiquity and medieval history.
