I had a job inspecting restaurants in Guangdong a few years back. Had a similar experience - saw a cat being blow-torched alive while hung by its mouth from a clothes hanger. Had a picture on my work camera - lost it. Was never as dramatic a photo as this though.

Oh little one, I weep for you.
No loving caress, no toy to chew.
Did your tail wag for the hand coming near?
Did you lick the fingers you didn’t know to fear?
Released from your cage did you start to play,
Thinking that friendship had come your way?
Oh little one, my heart does break,
For the inhumane way your life they did take.
God bless the little ones who have no chance
For life, or love, or a tender glance.
With love…Ice Queen Blue

Please note I posted this after seeing the horrifying link in one of the messages showing the dog skinned alive, thrown on a stack, and it turned it's naked head (with a little eyebrow of fur still left), nuzzled it's skinless body, blinked a few times and then died. I don't say don't eat meat. I say if it is necessary then treat the animal with respect and humaneness and make the end as quick and as painless as humanly possible.

Poor animals But that is the way of life. In your country, this is a cultural heritage or traditional snack/meal I presume? I've seen worse, but this is harsh for me. Not that I'm saying you are a monster, no. You eat what you eat, and I eat what I eat. Hope he tasted good!

Well composed, strong PJ picture with the subject - very controvertial for animal lovers. Heavy realism mixed with a grotesque, unnatural pose of the dog's body in 'danse macabre'... DD well deserved!

Its a bit like how some people view rabbits now.
Rabbits were originally domesticated to be eaten and for their fur. But over the years more people have come to have them as companions.
I have rabbits as companions, but I'm not adverse to the use of rabbits as food for human or other animals or using their fur.
This can cause a LOT of trouble in the rabbit world where I am, but its much more common in other countries.
But its seen as better to kill wild rabbits for meat/fur than to keep domesticated ones for the same reason?

Its not that very long ago, 200 yrs maybe? That "western" people also ate cats and dog, as well as using their fur for clothing.
Cats and dogs can bother scavange or hunt to survive, meaning they can be fairly cheap to keep as well as keeping down vermin and rubbish. They are both able to reproduce relativelly quickly. They are very multifunctional. Food, fur, gaurdian, watch dog, hot water bottle, pack or drag animal, hunter, vermin control, sellable etc.

I think it's weird that sexual images have to have a 'graphic image' warning, and this doesn't. :/

That being said, this is obviously a powerful shot.

Ah, you're right. For some reason I didn't see it when I was browsing. I probably wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't been eating breakfast at the time, either!

The whole contrast between the way that 'sexual' and 'violent' images is just a pet peeve of mine, sorry about that.

And congrats on the DD, of course!

People are probably upset because dogs are companion/working animals, like horses. They'e been selectively bred to work alongside humans, (until relatively recently, when they've started being bred for consumption) so eating them is much closer to eating a fellow man than, say, a chicken, which has never served a purpose other than providing food.

People get attached to their pets, but it doesn't make those animals to be treated as pets on the other side of the world, or on the other side of the ocean.

We eat horses, rabbits... in France and it is accepted by the french population, though horses and rabbits can also be pets.

I like the shot, I've just never really understood what's so good about eating dogs and cats. Look at that thing! There's barely any meat on there! Now a nice, fat, juicy chicken is what I'm talking about.. XD

They come in nice clean anonymous packages, so we don't ever have to be disturbed...

Oh geez right in the feels.

Brilliant choice making this black and white by the way. I don't think this image would have nearly the punch it does if it was in color. I mean that in a symbolism sense. Obviously the guts being in color would really make some people fall over.
