I've been working on this piece on and off for the last few months and I finally have it to the point where I feel happy posting it. The idea here is that the proximity to the ocean starts a fish-like transformation.To me, this piece is more about the photography than the manipulation. I really like the contrast between the dark lava and the pink skin of the foot. I also think I have a nice looking foot
The changes I made here are minor. I added thin (but not too thin) webs between each toe. I tried to create or retain as much texture on the webbing as possible to keep it believable. I also altered the shape of the toenails. For some reason the triangular shape made me think of the animated movie Atlantis. Very appropriate for an image like this. Finally I added the scales and a slight blue color to the skin around the parts of the foot that are changing. I quite like the overall effect.
The scales came from this stock image provided by ~Enchantedgal-Stock .
The foot is my own.

very nice job on this, i really like how the webbing came out. If I might, the scales are a little too evenly spaced in this, but it's still really nicely done

ANYWAYS. I'm sorry for being stupid, but otherwise! I like the shape of the toe-nail, and it makes me think of fun scales! I also like the webbing alot. Wonderful work!

Ah yes, it looks great. I especially like the webs between the toes. It looks so real, you can practically see how thick/thin they are, cuz you can see some of the dark lava through it, if you know what I mean ^^' and they look a little slimy too o.o
I like the rest of the image too, the contrast and such. ^^ You're great at photomanipulations!

Where did you get that texture from?

I made it on the fly using other wet areas of the photo. It helps to take several photos and use pieces of each.
