Description These little guys had bazooka's attached to their wing struts. Talk about a crazy horse.

Edit: I never knew what these guys did, untill yesterday (oct 1) I saw a program on FAC's in vietnam.
FAC stands for Feild Air Controller, meaning they fly out and coordinate attacks/landing drops/pickups, anything of that sort. They would get a radio message from soldiers, maybe "They're attacking from the north" and one of the FAC's would fly low over the area (Yes, quite suicidal) and call in a fighter strike for the best poissible attack.

It made me realise how brave these people are, 1/2 of the FAC pilots never made it home. Thats insane.

yeah the FAC's did some remarkable things in such a small vunerable aircraft. they would fire the rockets attached to them when they ordered in a airstrike. so there you have a small airplane in charge of bombers and jet fighters. took a special person do fly those missions.

That reminds me of a funny quote "There was only one catch and that was Catch22, which specified that a concern for one's safety in the face of dangers that were real and immediate was the process of a rational mind. Orr was crazy and could be grounded. All he had to do was ask, and as soon as he did, he would no longer be crazy and would have to fly more missions. Orr would be crazy to fly more missions and sane if he didn't, but if he was sane he had to fly them. If he flew them he was crazy and didn't have to; but if he didn't want to he was sane and had to."
