I had to read the text a couple of times to get the gist of what the angel of death was saying.
Of course, I don't know the whole story yet, but maybe the wording could be rephrased slightly.
I love how you've dropped us into the middle of the action.

I wrote it that way to be a bit confusing because it will explain itself as the story goes on. It's made to be vague.

Those are his angel markings. The demons have markings that have more of a point to them.
