Description There seemed to be a period in the 90's when every other anime related product was Sailor Moon merchandise. Half of that depicted the Sailor Scouts frolicking at the beach. The subject became so shopworn that I decided to add a ferocious fish!

THANX. To date this is the only Sailor Moon pic I have ever done.

...I don't think I'll ever understand the S.M. mystique. Give me heroines who don't mind a little rough & tumble, as opposed to moon-eyed Barbie dolls who solve everything with a wave of their Super Sparkly Whuppin' Wands.

As such, I heartily approve this piece's subject matter & general quality...that shark actually looks more realistic than the animatronic stars of the last two "Jaws" sequels. Great use of shades o' blue, too.

*chuckles* Quite amusing. Especially Chibi-Usa's expression. Usagi is as clueless as ever.
I fear that ninjin4ever's comment, about the volume of postings to DA likely being an issue is quite accurate.

Also, this is a painting? Beautiful n.n What did you paint it with/on if you don't mind my asking?

THANX so much for taking the time to look and comment. This picture went for months with virtually no hits. Yesterday I placed it on my first page and suddenly people are looking at it again.

This is a painting over a pastel pencil drawing done on blue illustration board.

I have posted a tutorial on the technique I use to create pictures like this. It appears as a set of WIPs called "Elword Scissorhands" in my KIGO gallery.

THANX

I painted this work along with several others with anime subjects to enter in the Sakuracon Art Show in Seattle last March. I sold NOTHING at a con with tens of thousands of attendees! Go figure.

I posted this pic 3 months ago and yours is the first fave and comment that it has received. I put more effort into it than most of my other postings. I appreciate your interest all the more.

I have difficulty figuring out what is/is not popular. Since getting a page on DA, I have posted some images that got as many hits in the first 24 hours as "Get Kraken!" has gotten in 100 days.

I suppose if the characters were naked, it would have gotten ten times the attention.

Oh I understand what you mean, maybe I have a similar problem.
In my opinion, Anime-fans are a bit superficial and mainstream-orientated.
Own styles have just in few cases a chance. They don't see the time, you put in an artwork
But maybe, DA has just tooooo many postings. Sometimes, I lose track of the artworks on DA, too...
