Winsor Newton watercolors on 4 x 6 scrap of Arches paper.Another effort in my watercolor quest. This one started out as just an odd wet-on-wet experiment, but I liked the end result and so finished it by adding some trees and a lake (as per Gordon MacKenzie's book, "The Watercolorists' Essential Notebook".)

I love the glitter on the water, did you leave the paint off there to begin with, or scratch it in afterward?

Scratched it afterwards with sandpaper and an old credit card -- this book is so full of great tips!

Nope -- you use the credit card as a sort of ruler, so you can scratch in nice straight lines.
