I'm hoping someday DA might recover the file. So, I'm keeping this entry.

Even though I always wanted to revise the image because of the few innovations which came after that last compilation, it has to wait. There are a few other items I will have to take care of first.

Thanks!
google is always good. securityarms.com is a great index site to get some interesting images to begin your search specifically by name and premutations.
I prefer H&K weapons so I go to hkpro.com
Have fun & thanks for visiting!

oh, and last time i checked the XM8 wasnt doing so well testing. turns out its so light that it begins to melt the material the gun is made from after extended full auto firing.

Very nice. Lol, there're so many other thoughts for your next type of gun, why don't I just chip in with the huge guns? .50 calibur, anti-tank, gattling, a-fore-mentioned shotguns, rocket launchers, other assualt rifles, handguns, um...slingshots...err...rubber-band guns...um...spit ball straws? XD Actually, just the Assaulat rifles, shotguns, and especially the .50 cal, since that includes the Barrett M82A1, which is my favorite gun. I look forward to your next submissions in this series...+fav

Yes, but it was simple. so, it didn't seem being as much work as it might have been.

The blocky one is a prototype model of the G11. It was mass-produced, I belive, and was actually supposed to replace the M16 in the mid-Eighties, but due to its strange design it wasn't accepted by the U.S. Army. It's actually a wonderful design, and its advantage is in its highly-accurate three-round burst. The G11 uses caseless 'Phantom' ammunition, and that eliminates the need to extract the spent casing and so on, so the gun just fires and loads another one, so on and so forth. It cuts about half the cycle time off, and therefore its three-round burst clocks in at about 2000 rounds per minute, and the rounds are fired so quickly there's next to no recoil, which makes it incredibly easy to make a first-shot hit. Impressive. I don't know why the DoD didn't take this gem... even if it looks like a breadbox.
I'm pretty certain that the XM8/M8 and the OICW [left column, bottom two rows] aren't HK guns, though. Or maybe I'm wrong. H&K does a lot for the Army nowadays...

I can't remember the exact decision to junk the caseless project, but I seem to recall high maintanance, caliber ununiformity, and unreliable mechanics due to residue build up were potential issues.
XM8 is going through ongoing research the last I heard. OICW I thought was getting shelved or has been terminated. Once again, it's been awhile since I kept up with this news. Some info might be out of date.

They are supposed to be given to units starting in September, they are still testing but they're not gonna change anything. Have you heard they're also testing it in the 6.8 mm? I ship out the 21st of September and start on the first, I hope they'll give us the M-8 so we don't have to requalify later.
