The final official German designation was Panzerkampfwagen Tiger I Ausf. E

Actually it's Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger Ausf. E. "Ausf." is the abbreviation of AusfΓΌhrung which means "version" so it would depend on the version of the tank which letter code it would get. (Nitpicking, I know...) .

if you consider it.. this is quite new it was constructed from scrap found in normandy and latvia. damnit i really need to plan for another trip to the panzermuseum, i really want to see this beast.
