Description This is a daft oil painting of myself, finished digitally. One of those things where I didn't know what to paint, but I wanted to paint SOMETHING. Enjoy!

I love the textures in this. The way it cracks along the face remind me of dried mud, hah. but dried mud in a good way. All the colours that you used gives it an extra bit of depth and really allow for this to pop out.

Thank you! Actually you're bang on - the digital element was a photo of cracked mud! I think it's got almost a pottery feel...

Very best, and thanks for the comment!

Liam.

You know this actually reminds me of Glenn Fabry's work. I could totally see the "Preacher" font thrown across the top of this. Hmm, it seems lately every time I comment on a piece of yours I'm talking about how some times it reminds me of Frank Quitely and now I'm throwing out Glenn Fabry's name. I hope that is not frustrating. I actually think your work is really original and unique and since I've been watching you for a while I could probably easily pick out of a crowd. You're probably one my favorite artists now, I always look forward to new deviations from you. Especially stuff like this.

Thanks man, really. Hearing stuff like that makes me glad I've continued being inspired by others and trying different techniques, rather than doggedly sticking to one I felt comfortable with. I wear my influences on my sleeve, what can I say?
Glenn's a great, and old mate. I've often thought of myself as somewhere between the Biz and Glenn. We're all mates actually, and contemporaries of each other, though I've never soared their heights of success or recognition. I think it's because of this ever-changing aspect of myself. I'm restless!

Very best,

Liam.

Ha ha! When my head was shaved the comparison was made a few times! There was a critic who used to always tear my stuff apart, and one day I met him at a con. I'm completely non-violent, and in my head I'm a lot smaller than I actually am in reality. The guy didn't know this, so when I told him how upset I was at his reviews he took it to be like a gentle warning or something... He later wrote this piece in a magazine saying I was the stone cold Steve Austin of comics, and that every sphincter in his body snapped shut when he met me... LOL!
I'm trying to tone down my look these days - age, and being a bit bored of being mistaken for some sort of violent badass. It's getting to the point where people now say "you're not as big as I thought you'd be"! Man, hate to disappoint those people!

Take care,

Liam.

Nice! Looke like you painted it into the street only to have it crack during the winter months. Thats a cool idea!

Cracked artist you might say...
actually it's the cracks that were the digital part, so the original is still intact.

Thanks for dropping by!

Best,

Liam.

Were I tell the guy above the cracks are the digital element. Take them away and you get the picture as it was... It was a picture of cracked mud I over-laid.
