Oh, it's Jace at the front, finally, whoot! I love it just for that reason alone, lol. I'm not sure why it doesn't work for you, but to me I feel the Theron is out of place. As a centerpiece of an entirely Locust pin up yes, but here he doesn't quite fit. Maybe Baird and Cole there, or Anya and Bernie, or a mix up of those four or another character of your choice... eh, anyway, just my two cents worth. Otherwise the actual style and art itself is just spectacular .

thats great!!! they should have used it! i think its epic, i think the reasons are that they didnt use it are that faces sort of feel covered, to me, and th style seems similer to star wars posters and promotional adds. but its still an amazing piece. who am i kidding its epic!!!

That's a shame you never received feedback on this piece. It looks as though a lot of time went in to creating it.

Honestly m8 i cant see wots wrong with it. Apart from, mayb the dude in the front(he looks to much like ice, were the rest o the peice loks quite fiery) stands out 2 much from Jecento n Phenix (i thik thats how u spell them, sry)But that is jus my opinion. Its a gud peice neway, u should b proud of it!!

Steelpengu [2009-05-28 00:50:53 +0000 UTC]
The dude with the stache looks like his body continues into the column. It doesn't work. Like, the left half of the picture is strong, even worthy of being called finished. The right half is an awkward, clumsy bit of organization. I think you should finish it, maybe even redo parts of it if you are willing, and then send it back to the publisher. This should be a collection cover or a poster. Has kind of a Drew Struzan thing going for it.

Im wondering that if you lowerd slightly and moved the foreground guy to the right it might pop more...
Maybe that would go against the whole centerd look of it but it feels like that pillar is alot of wasted space.

Very sad that "all the images" of gears of war comic ...
Didnt get this Color & shading Wraph up in quality ...
Actual gears of wars comic Inside coloring its like a 30% to most 40% what it should be ... alot flat coloring there ... [link]
Now this shading & style ... Above your inks would get the comic near 68% - 78% ... on quality values Beying a 100% all images like this [link]
lol...
BUT Anyway ...
Maibe they get yu a chançe to color some of your inks ... if yu do some here and there more and release as wallpapers to your fans ...
Or if not ...
MAN your GODKILLERS "Graphic novel" will have all this value and alot more for sure ...
Just need to hit the US Masses xD that publishing !
Everything you need its REAALY the right kind of exposition ...
( that to all your works )
I'm sure like this most of all people ( big ones and gears fans ) didnt even get a chançe to "look at it" ...
Or else they had already comissioned yu for some amazing *JoeJusko like posters dude ...
The scenery .. and the faces of the gears and the overall is very amazing for a speedy concept i know it is for you ...
one just get missing the "height" of your inks ...
MAN yourself doing a inked page like this [link] FIRST them coloring OVER with your shading tecnique ..
Would be radical awsome ...
Cause what yu can get in inks first will guide you to give more deepness and right value to the painting then that you would lay over ...
But of course its 2 or 3 times more time expensive ...
( for a final image then not a concept like this )
And you would have to not get afraid of overlay the inks .. yu have here a video about that -Β» [link]
But reaaly Would do ya wounders in mixing the best of your both worlds..
have fun man !
The always art tecnician freack

Cheers Ruben - though it took a long time and is still unfinished. I think I'd go mad if I had to do an epic story in this style... Mad, or blind, whichever came first... LOL!
Take care,

Deep excuses for who cant think better, further or not enough ...
Thats what it sounds to me .
Hahahahahahaha Why ?
FIRST:
NOT if they paid yu enough Huhuhu...
SECOUND:
Or at least put ya in charche of the ( "color" department team for that magazine ) i mean ...
Thats why "Graphic novels" should be always a tea work with a "art team leader" that is the best and kinda can lead all others in "how to" ...
THATS a thing that is alot wrong with the comics industry ...
And were comics industry have alot to "LEARN" with the "Production of games ..."
There should be a ART DEVELOPMENT LEADER ... veteran in charge of other low in their class workers artist ...
To imput its vision and technique on the whoole team .
Even if he cant and dont have time .. he can direct others and supervisionise the whole how to ...
And thats evolution in production ...
Now comic book techniques of production that don't have nothing like it ...
"one do the inks, another the draws , another the color "
And as each one earns different its alot separed on its department ... and cant do nothing about others ...
So thats why there should be ALWAYS A Art Production director - That should be always the most veteran and best Artist and best technician of the team ... Giving the guidelines of working to others ...
DUDE ... That is one of the most and biguest of my secrets of this whoole SOULSSHINE Online open Sourçe Graphic Novels production i'm runing here ...
That is so but so efective that yu can have a hell lot of mere "amateurs" in art but leadershiped by a very wise Technician Artwork Production development director ...
And yu can even put complete amateurs that you would never give anything of them ...
Doing things as good as any the best professionals outhere ..
heheh...
DO yu wanna bet that "the results in art" ?
is all a matter how much how much a art production is that much corporative deep by levels ramificationed organized or not ...
But o course yu need to be a very open mind Sharp a hell lot good no limits MAD producer to think that so .
__
IN RESUME : Sad that they didnt put you ART Directing the whoole Dam Comic ...
That is THEIR own fault not ever yours .
THIRD: Dude...
And i'm saying it for yu to think about all that ...
The day that your novel gets massive success in US ...
And dc or other propose you to Do the Graphic novel Of god Killers dude ...
Get a structured organization for that GOD KILLERS Graphic Novel ...
Never ever trying to do everything alone ...
And putting yourself as main artist BUT in direction of all others ...
If yu want to do THAT grade of production and result ...
Dont forget that when time comes ...
Most people offer the majority of their thought in response to what they are observing.
Yu know my vision always talk further beyond time ... future or pass they all clash ... inside you.
What its done its done ...
no one can do nothing about it ...
Not even yu...
We all know and thats not whats in question here .
THE thing here is THAT NOW its the time to pack it up and with all achieved change your mind ...
And learn to see not what yu did ...
But from what you done, beyond.
Ruben.

Sadly the issue with comics is sales. Printing, distribution, etc. everything costs so much it's very hard to make money - as we found out with Event Horizon, which cost me personally Β£12,000. if you sell over 10,000 copies it's considered good! By the end, even with names like Steve Niles, the Biz, Glenn Fabry and more, we were only getting orders from the comic shops for 500 copies, so it was impossible.
With everything going digital - including books now - it's hard to see a secure future. Nobody in the comics biz I know has had a page rate increase for over ten years, and practically nothing sells enough for there to be royalties. It's very uncertain what the future holds for us.
You're right though - Games will continue to grow!

Fair points all! It is still only about 85% finished - Barrick's hand on the top of his gun is just sketched in - but yeah, it doesn't quite do it for me. Hey, you can't always get it right! LOL!
