Description Here's a Gears pin-up I was working on. I never got any feedback from the publishers on this so I never bothered to finish it. Something about it doesn't quite work for me somehow, but I thought I'd share it anyway.

Cheers all!

Oh, it's Jace at the front, finally, whoot! I love it just for that reason alone, lol. I'm not sure why it doesn't work for you, but to me I feel the Theron is out of place. As a centerpiece of an entirely Locust pin up yes, but here he doesn't quite fit. Maybe Baird and Cole there, or Anya and Bernie, or a mix up of those four or another character of your choice... eh, anyway, just my two cents worth. Otherwise the actual style and art itself is just spectacular .

thats great!!! they should have used it! i think its epic, i think the reasons are that they didnt use it are that faces sort of feel covered, to me, and th style seems similer to star wars posters and promotional adds. but its still an amazing piece. who am i kidding its epic!!!

I like it a lot, and I am no where near your level as an artist, I obviously have no shame in admitting, but I sometimes have a skill for pointing out thingies that don't look right to my eyeballs. I think the shininess on blueguy's shoulder is the only thing that seems off...maybe if the light was coming from behind him somehow it would make him stand out from the beautiful montage behind him...but as I said, I have never accomplished anything as complex as this artistically and have zero reason for believing any of this stuff I say is worth saying
I'm talkative tonight.

The dude with the stache looks like his body continues into the column. It doesn't work. Like, the left half of the picture is strong, even worthy of being called finished. The right half is an awkward, clumsy bit of organization. I think you should finish it, maybe even redo parts of it if you are willing, and then send it back to the publisher. This should be a collection cover or a poster. Has kind of a Drew Struzan thing going for it.

Very sad that "all the images" of gears of war comic ...

Didnt get this Color & shading Wraph up in quality ...

Actual gears of wars comic Inside coloring its like a 30% to most 40% what it should be ... alot flat coloring there ... [link]

Now this shading & style ... Above your inks would get the comic near 68% - 78% ... on quality values Beying a 100% all images like this [link]
lol...

BUT Anyway ...

Maibe they get yu a chançe to color some of your inks ... if yu do some here and there more and release as wallpapers to your fans ...

Or if not ...
MAN your GODKILLERS "Graphic novel" will have all this value and alot more for sure ...

Just need to hit the US Masses xD that publishing !

Everything you need its REAALY the right kind of exposition ...
( that to all your works )

I'm sure like this most of all people ( big ones and gears fans ) didnt even get a chançe to "look at it" ...

Or else they had already comissioned yu for some amazing *JoeJusko like posters dude ...

The scenery .. and the faces of the gears and the overall is very amazing for a speedy concept i know it is for you ...

one just get missing the "height" of your inks ...

MAN yourself doing a inked page like this [link] FIRST them coloring OVER with your shading tecnique ..

Would be radical awsome ...
Cause what yu can get in inks first will guide you to give more deepness and right value to the painting then that you would lay over ...

But of course its 2 or 3 times more time expensive ...

( for a final image then not a concept like this )

And you would have to not get afraid of overlay the inks .. yu have here a video about that -Β» [link]

But reaaly Would do ya wounders in mixing the best of your both worlds..

have fun man !

The always art tecnician freack

Deep excuses for who cant think better, further or not enough ...
Thats what it sounds to me .

Hahahahahahaha Why ?

FIRST:
NOT if they paid yu enough Huhuhu...

SECOUND:
Or at least put ya in charche of the ( "color" department team for that magazine ) i mean ...

Thats why "Graphic novels" should be always a tea work with a "art team leader" that is the best and kinda can lead all others in "how to" ...

THATS a thing that is alot wrong with the comics industry ...
And were comics industry have alot to "LEARN" with the "Production of games ..."

There should be a ART DEVELOPMENT LEADER ... veteran in charge of other low in their class workers artist ...
To imput its vision and technique on the whoole team .

Even if he cant and dont have time .. he can direct others and supervisionise the whole how to ...

And thats evolution in production ...

Now comic book techniques of production that don't have nothing like it ...
"one do the inks, another the draws , another the color "
And as each one earns different its alot separed on its department ... and cant do nothing about others ...

So thats why there should be ALWAYS A Art Production director - That should be always the most veteran and best Artist and best technician of the team ... Giving the guidelines of working to others ...

DUDE ... That is one of the most and biguest of my secrets of this whoole SOULSSHINE Online open Sourçe Graphic Novels production i'm runing here ...

That is so but so efective that yu can have a hell lot of mere "amateurs" in art but leadershiped by a very wise Technician Artwork Production development director ...
And yu can even put complete amateurs that you would never give anything of them ...
Doing things as good as any the best professionals outhere ..

heheh...
DO yu wanna bet that "the results in art" ?
is all a matter how much how much a art production is that much corporative deep by levels ramificationed organized or not ...

But o course yu need to be a very open mind Sharp a hell lot good no limits MAD producer to think that so .

__

IN RESUME : Sad that they didnt put you ART Directing the whoole Dam Comic ...

That is THEIR own fault not ever yours .

THIRD: Dude...
And i'm saying it for yu to think about all that ...
The day that your novel gets massive success in US ...
And dc or other propose you to Do the Graphic novel Of god Killers dude ...

Get a structured organization for that GOD KILLERS Graphic Novel ...
Never ever trying to do everything alone ...
And putting yourself as main artist BUT in direction of all others ...
If yu want to do THAT grade of production and result ...

Dont forget that when time comes ...

Most people offer the majority of their thought in response to what they are observing.

Yu know my vision always talk further beyond time ... future or pass they all clash ... inside you.

What its done its done ...

no one can do nothing about it ...
Not even yu...

We all know and thats not whats in question here .

THE thing here is THAT NOW its the time to pack it up and with all achieved change your mind ...
And learn to see not what yu did ...
But from what you done, beyond.

IN RESUME:

"Comics its a Dam SELFISH Industry ..."

Quote of the week.

That's why were they head , into the own nothing with substantial of real artistry in it ...

Game production is toward in a whole lot different level of every things ...
Thats why that in 100 years it will become even bigger and better than movies and all artwork production industries ...

Even comics hits become "more" reliable on Games Made today ...
Ther's no debate on that and in its behind productive production philosophy.

Take care of your future thinking about it today ...

Sadly the issue with comics is sales. Printing, distribution, etc. everything costs so much it's very hard to make money - as we found out with Event Horizon, which cost me personally Β£12,000. if you sell over 10,000 copies it's considered good! By the end, even with names like Steve Niles, the Biz, Glenn Fabry and more, we were only getting orders from the comic shops for 500 copies, so it was impossible.
With everything going digital - including books now - it's hard to see a secure future. Nobody in the comics biz I know has had a page rate increase for over ten years, and practically nothing sells enough for there to be royalties. It's very uncertain what the future holds for us.

You're right though - Games will continue to grow!

Yeah ... as far as i see things will get even worst "when" they introduce the "digital paper" fully into our homes ... more 15 to 20 years or such if not less to be expanded worldwide [link]

What means that comics Will be ultimately completely digital ...

Exactly because of the "Worldwide Paper Recession"

So Then goin after the way that theirs no problem in the "priçe of paper" ...

Comics economy will get into a High first with the introduction of that ranged worldwide ...

Then will be its doom ... that hand shake and will get a way low as never before as far hackers make that "Digital paper issues" format able to be downloaded from torrents and web ...

And then will be the ultimate crash of comics as well as books ... Against the new digital reality .

Lets be sincere ...

We dont even need to buy Gears of wars "all issues so far" .
Just need to do a search on google with the right keywords.
2 or 3 days after its next release ...

And in a big screen with pan & zoom they are even more "spectacular" to see all those amazing details ... and after having that in home ... are you gona spend your money is anything that is not "The elite best the most" And even that is what is the most wide spreed... sure.

...

Everyone try not to talk about that .
How much it reaaly affects them all ...
But everyone is doing it also.

---

And thats why communitarian humanitarian "production" Will be in high . For some mere "enthusiastic wise fools" ...

People will not distribute illegaly so much things that everyone can participate and you can earn money with inst so.

heheh...

--

I got also some other secrets about Digital format in comics and ways to make people not be able to share it ...
But that's some more Silly Production Secret tricks we will be having in this production in 10 years or more or so ...
only ...

I'm counting in this areas for a liveTime ...
All this project is my all a livetime achievement ...
Started at my 8 .. and at my 80 will still be doing Producing with all i am and i'm not "just this" yu know ...

So to study the overall environment of our Business not just in how it is ...
But look forward is the most important.

...

You are a Very Wise man because of your Mediating Communitarian Interaction Skills With your potential buyers ...

Jim lee is another.

hehe...

---

Lets see were we all have reached when we get 70 years old ...
Then we can talk alil more Without debates ...

But with life lived experienced vision About it thou...

All love !

Have fun!

Enjoy the Every single Moment at the very most !

SOULSSHINE In reply to LiamRSharp [2009-05-29 13:48:38 +0000 UTC]

OF COURSE NOT !!!

The solution In matter of fact for comics is on -Β» Communitarian Work -Β» Mixing with Steven jackson Fighting fantasy Formats. (www.fightingfantasy.com) [link] back there from the 70s ... There is the Future.

kkkk...

Have you ever imagined what would be a literature Format As Fighting Fantasy "chose your way" "game book" ...

Were yu mix RPG Table top Game play With Comics Sequences with carding and choose your way Reading ...

Its kinda "the ultimate Old school format"

That mix all The breed of RPG role play Adepts , to literature adepts , to comics Adepts , to wallpapers adepts , to game adepts ...

In matter of fact "comics as it is just" canot survive ...

But if those Severall Worlds join In one new format That joins All that ...

That new format will be maintained forever ...

Expecialy because its a Format that its very well aplied to "digital paper" also ...

Fighting Fantasy Choose your way books ad like 400 choises to chose your way in their histories .. and that would mean 400 pages "just letters"

If we got that in mix with comics - Would mean 2 pages Art sequence by every literature choise and that would mean a comic chose your way Novel book of 800 pages all full a4 and color !!!

What means that its impossible to publish this days that format !!

BUT WITH digital paper ! WILL BE ALOT MORE EASY !! To not just do it ....

( and for that one person alone canot - needs several writers and several artists ) That means a online production community ...

But also to join the traditional Role play And cards Gamming sessions to it !!

WHAT MEANS !! that will be born a new form of Digital Interactive Comics !

That That format will be the percursors to "games"

This days if you want to have a script to a "movie" .. you do a comic .

Those days If you want to make a "game" you will be doing a "graphic novel game book"

Hahahahahah....

Can you imagine that i'v been preparing sinçe my 8 years old THAT format ! whahahaahha ...

I was in Secoundary School ...
With 12 years old ...
I was already joining groups of colegues to start build that ...
And everyone was calling me crazy cause "would never be published" a "graphic novel game book" with 800 or more pages "by episode" ,

But now more and more times passes that crazyness is becoming amost realistic truth...

BUT SHUUUUO!! Dont tell anyone !!

THAT is my best 20 years kept secret here ... xD

And yes .. enjoy the moment dude ! xD

Make it better and better ...

If you are a True artist ...
Your creativity CAN Always in every ways.

Even change the destiny of selfish doomed things ...

As much you can change your thinking ...
You can evolute everything !

Have fun!

Ok, My personal oppinions are;

Dom looks awesome, thats a pretty sweet job on him.

Marcus also looks really cool.

The Theron Guard looks a little bit flat too me. I dont quite know what it is, but it appears like his face is too flat and there may be a lack of shading in certain areas (depending on lightsource) that doesnt quite give the depth to his nose or eye sockets.

As for the other two chars (I dont follor the commics so I can't name them), They are both really cool but appear to be done in a slightly different style compared to Dom and Marcus. Which may add a small unbalance to the pic.

My opinion probably isnt that valuable after browsing through my gallery and comparing it to the standard of work you produce. But, those are my thoughts on the overall piece and I hope I have helped in any way. ^^

Hahaha very well.... I think the additional thing that kinda became apparent to me after posting the last msg. Is that it kinda looks like the old Star Wars posters.... Obviously not the same art style, but the composition and the colors are some what similar and may be the reason why it doesnt quite sit right with you.

.... Just a thought.
