Whiplash is one of the most old foes of Iron Man. After Mark Scarlotti - the original Whiplash/Blacklash - was killed by Iron Man's sentient armor, a new Whiplash appears in 2010 to fight against the Armored Avenger. The new Whiplash is Anton Vanko, although he's not a relative to the first Crimson Dynamo, Anton Vanko.The design of the modern Whiplash is heavily based on Iron Man's 2 rendition of the character, which is an amalgam of Whiplash/Blacklash (a skilled electrician and criminal armed with a powerful energy whip) and the Crimson Dynamo (a Russian man equipped with a suit of armor similar to Iron Man's).
Anton Vanko appears for the first time in the limited series "Iron Man VS Whiplash" (it's still part of the main Marvel Universe continuity). After his village is destroyed by an Iron Man imposter, Vanko manages to shoot him with an high-tech rifle, severing away the uni-beam plate. Then, Vanko uses the armor plate to create his own suit of armor and exact his revenge on Iron Man (another proof that Tony Stark hates irony).

really tight work you did here man. I loved all the details you put into his suit, as well as the futuristic feel of it. Just as something you may want to remember for the next time, try and really pick out a dominating pose. I know you wanted to pack in the details of his whole suit and everything, but he seems kinda flat, and 2 d ish. Still this thing is really impressive, good stuff!

Whiplash, indeed! I love those chain-arrow-thingies (yes, thingies!). The anatomy is awesome, and I love your use of sharp lines to make it look like armor. Well done
