I read it and loved it. Yes, I think those places in the story are named after Poland and Russia. And there was some inspiration from Slavic folklore in this universe. I loved this story.

I literally just finished reading this, as in put it in it's own little spot in one of my own numerous book shelves for next time bout ten minutes ago. It was wonderful, and you've captured both of them excellently. I also thought there were some routes in Polish so i'm glad someone else spotted it (and I also had to have the similarities of names pointed out to me, embarrassingly by my POLISH partner...though it shows how immersive the story was I guess!).

Right?! It was such an amazing book. So many things happened, and yet it didn't get dense. Also, the fairytale elements were so cool.
Thank you so much!

Oh my gosh I thought I was the only one who'd read "Uprooted"! I scrolled past this picture and then said to myself "wait, I feel like I know these people..." and when I checked the title...well, here I am admiring your lovely fanart. It reminded me of Diana Wynne Jones' stories, and that is a high compliment from me. I hope to see more work by the author in the future!
Fantastic work, I love the detail of the mismatched shoes, and the handprint on her skirt! And the pattern of the Dragon's...surcoat? vest? I know there's a word for that...lovely, very dragon-like indeed! And the expressions, of course: perfect!
("How to Train Your Dragon" indeed...giggle. Now I'm never going to be able to think of it as anything else!)

Thank you so much, Poetsiren!
(By the way, since you recommended me some mermaid books, I recently finished a novel called "Monstrous Beauty", by Elizabeth Fama. It was gorgeous and so dramatic! Do you know it?)

You're welcome.
And YES. It's well written, isn't it?! It's up there on my own "gorgeous" list with Shanna Abe' and "The Last Mermaid." There are so few written like those 2!
I recently read "The Winter Sea" by Susanna Kearsley. It's not mermaid-related, but more a Scottish seaside novel about a woman having visions about living in a time long ago...... It was just as lovely.

Ooh, I love this! Once again, you have utilized your mastery of the human facial expression and delivered a perfect representation of their relationship all through scowling. I love how dynamic their poses are, and it's amazing to see all the detail that went into Agnieszka's dress.
