Description "...there's no I in 'team'. There is a me, though, if you jumble it up."

Here he is, Hugh Laurie... or Dr. House as he is most commonly known now. This is yet again the best portrait ive drawn...in my opinion anyway. I started this a few weeks ago since it was the school holidays, i tried to get it done before the end of the break but i didnt manage to...anyways its done now and im pleased with it, enjoy.

Valesco [2010-07-05 21:25:28 +0000 UTC]

maaaan, just gotta ask you some more stuff:
how do you produce these genuine looking texture of the skin? everytime i try to produce genuine texture of any object i smudge it with my hands involuntarily, even if i use a paper for covering....i guess you use veeery hard pencils and an incredible amount of patience?

thanks for answering to that monolouge

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

LifelessAlarm In reply to Valesco [2010-07-08 22:35:05 +0000 UTC]

Well one method that i use is to work on very small areas at a time. This could also possibly help you with the problem of smudging as your hand isnt moving all over the paper all the time... unless you already do this in which case you just need to take more care I usually use an A4 sheet of paper to seperate my hand from the drawing.

Also in order to get a decent range of greys it helps to use a combination of hard and soft pencils, I usually use a range of 5H to 6B. I also use lots and lots of patience

I suppose one more general tip would be to simply study your references as close as possible and ask yourself 'what is the difference between my drawing and the reference?' then keep on adjusting until you get it as close as possible.

I hope that answers your question somewhat, just remember the best way to learn is to try it yourself... and to ask lots of questions, thats what I did.

Valesco In reply to LifelessAlarm [2010-07-10 08:51:08 +0000 UTC]

yeah,

thanks a lot for that, especially since many of the fellwo deviants who're quite good yet don't take their time to deal with "subordinates", which are not good yet...

thanks!
