This portrait is so warm and cheerful.  I love all of the details (spotted the horcruxes) and I see that Dumbldore takes lemon and two sugars!

Because giving socks to Dumbledore would make him a "free wizard", after all.  I'd be a bit weary about having a phoenix in a room full of wood, books and scrolls - but it's Hogwarts, so they probably have some charm or whatnot to ward that away.

that's what the bowl under Fawk's roost is for, catching the burning ashes!

Wouldn't there be some loose flames somewhere, as in if Fawks flew off of the perch?

Oh...  Fawks...  Like "fire" and "hawk", which is what he looks like and pretty much is.  F-ing-A, I am dense as heck.

Guy Fawkes the person who tried to blow up Parliament(I forgot the 'e')
and not only is Fawkes is pretty well behaved but I doubt he does much flying on burning days

Guy Fawkes didn't cross my mind at the tie, but I do see your point of view.  To me, my conclusion fits more with the story of the books.  There aren't many references to the "muggle" universe and their history, at least, none that I have seen.  Forgive the reference, but it's kind of like when, after months of hearing bits and seeing fan art, I realized how there must be some connection in Yuri!!!  On ICE!, with how a character's name is "Victor", in an anime about competitive, male ice skating (and some actually interesting plot I've been getting hints of).

The most I know about Guy Fawkes is from maybe a brief mention in a history class, my calendar, and...uh...V for Vendetta...yeah...

ha! yeah that's mostly as much of Guy Fawkes as I know too!
"remember, remember the fifth of November, Gunpowder, treason and plot!
I see of no reason why the gunpowder treason should ever be forgot!"

I'm also not English, so it's not a holiday we regularly celebrate.  My family and I...we're kind of odd with our celebrations.  We watch Die Hard for a Christmas movie, and Independence Day on...well...July 4.

My biggest problem is how we "celebrate" Columbus Day.  Learning more about the guy over the past years, I don't think he's a good person for children to appreciate and hold in high regard for something he DIDN'T do.

yeah, I'm American...
"in fourteen hundred ninety-two Columbus sailed the ocean blue,
and missed, by one whole hemisphere, the orient and wound up here.
now he's famous, now that's proof, that skill can't beat a lucky goof!"
from Frazz...
but so far "Viking day" has yet to catch on...

*Ahem*  I believe you meant "Leif Erikson Day".  (At least we know Vikings were always horrible - to people not of their society - they had tightly-knit communities and early women's rights!)

BUT!  If you want to get *technical* about the discovery of the North American continent, there is evidence and speculation of previous arrivals of European people on the east coast, and - even more *technical* - early Asian migrants who crossed the long-gone land bridge from the eastern side of Russia to the western coast of Alaska, then into the rest of the continent from there.

Yes.  We need "Leif Erikson Day".  How cool would it be to have a community "Raid"?  As in something like a game of "Capture the Flag" or something?  (my community is probably small enough for that to work okay, but maybe a bit too big.)

Wouldn't hurt if schools taught more about Nikola Tesla, instead of Thomas Edison (who was not really a nice guy, had employees do the work - like the light bulb's development - and his SERIOUS SLANDER aimed at Tesla and the AC current he developed - really messed up, but there may be a video out there on the net, it showed up in the "Truth" segments of ACII, so I suppose you'd find it on the 'Tube.)

And kick the settlers off our land! -Though I don't know where I'd fit with that, since I'm from a few families of immigrants AFTER 1800a.d. Maybe I can take a boat back to the British Isles, or Finland? -

(Not Switzerland - they have surstromming)

Not to say this isn't a great piece or anything, but I do think Dumbledore lied about the socks. I think when he looks into the mirror of Erised, he sees him, his brother Aberforth, and his dead sister Ariana, together as one happy family again.

Maybe. I think there is more evidence to suggest that he saw the Hallows united in his possession.

There's also the stabbed diary, snapped diadem, the hufflepuff cup looks mangled, Fawkes is holding the locket and I'll hazard a guess that snake has no head! He sees all the horcruxes together and destroyed. It's so cool XD

Entropician In reply to SylenisCrafts [2017-01-01 22:21:13 +0000 UTC]

good eye for the details, yeah, maybe is an alternative scenario where albus has destroyed all the horcruxes by himself
