Description
Here we have another one of my spec dino things. Yup I made him crinkly cuz I could. Again I mix my love of scifi, world building, dinosaurs and diapers.
SauroSapien are proof that things are not always as we would imagine them. In 2146 when the first few dozen were cloned from fragmented fossils it was assumed that they would be just another interesting species of raptor to be resurrected and added to growing number of revived dinosaur species that were being produced in the wake of breakthroughs in recovery of paleolithic DNA. Experience had taught the cloners that most raptors required significant parental care and interactions to develop properly and so most SauroSaps were hand raised by humans who within a few short months were shocked to hear the small dinosaurs beginning to use words. Their handlers tried to shrug it off as mimicry but as time wore on they began to show complex behaviors and their vocabularies continued to grow. It became obvious they were truly learning language. After a few years of Academic debate and culture shock SauroSaps were granted personhood by the United Nations when an ate the time 7 year old SauroSap girl spoke at the UN. In the intervening Decades SauroSap populations have grown as new fossil finds were found and other facilities continued to clone them. Beyond this the SauroSaps themselves began breeding on their own. They have shown themselves to be quick learners in many ways. Their dexterous hands able to perform fine task and their academic marks are usually above that of their human peers. Physically they tend to stand at around 5 feet tall, come in a wide range of coloration with greens, brown, and orange being the most common with various highlights. They are built more lightly than humans and are far quicker on their feet. Culturally they are quite similar to humans having been raised in human culture all their lives. They are very social and typically quite outgoing and curious. They are quite social and tactile beings rubbing cheeks as an affectionate form of greeting. Ancient SauroSap customs and culture are relatively unknown. Roughly a decade ago now a sophisticated computer archive was discovered in a granite box at the Cretaceous layer. Scholars are only now pulling data from the device which seems to be an archive. The early returns on translation from it are that the SauroSaps were at the same level of advancement as we were when the Meteor struck dealing a death blow to an already struggling ecosystem. We have learned bare basics of ancient SauroSap religion as well. They were sun worshippers of a sort believing the sun to being a sort of supreme being from which they call came from and to which they all return upon death. This has also shed light on why their remains are so hard to find. Traditionally the Ancient SauroSaps appeared to have practiced ritualistic burning of the body as a funerary custom. This is a custom some Modern SauroSaps have readopted out of respect for their ancestors they many endeavor to learn more about where they came from.

Vrrrr. It's starting to get chillier out now. Heh I pity the humans. No feathers. Heh that said I'm definitely getting out my winter vest tomorrow. Feels weird though coming home to the new apartment. Miss mom but this is where the research is happening so this is where I gotta be. I'll be studying paleontology here to get my degree and get my feet wet in the field able to study new finds as they come in. This is so awesome! That said the area sure isn't designed for SauroSaps. I've had to be extra careful when turning around so I don't knock stuff over with my tail. Plus no SauroSap friendly bathrooms in most places. Kind of embarrassing wearing a diaper during the day like a chick but I have a hard time tying to sit on those human toilets. But I'm not the only one. There's a few others around the area I've met and they all do the same thing. Truth me told though I do kind of like em. And well I may still need them at night. Occasionally. Ok maybe more than occasionally. Anyway here's hoping I make some new friends in the area. Gets pretty lonely. Oh well though. Enough of my rambles for one evening. I'm gonna go curl up in bed and watch a lil TV. Hopefully I'll remember to turn it off before I fall asleep. Heh. Dad's not here to turn it off for me anymore. Hehe. "
Well hope you guys liked the pic and the Codex and Journal there. ^^
