Description
I've been telling myself for weeks that I need to take a break from drawing to focus on my writing. So, naturally I agreed to partake in CBR's latest X-Jam [link] redesigning the merry mutants.I was torn between a regal, imposing, will incinerate you from her throne Storm and an edgier, sleeker, "Ahmma fightchoo up close" version so I did both.
Honestly, my obsession with Dragon Age is responsible for the one on the left and my love of a fabulous ponytail for the other.

If i had to choose between the two beautiful designs, i'd go for the one on the right.

Wow! Outstanding redesigns. I cant decide which one I like best. Probably the burgundy and black, but just barely. I always thought, why would a superhero want to just wear the same outfit all the time. Especially the female superheroes. It seems more realistic for them to have a varied rotation of costumes in there wardrobe. Anyway, great job!

Thanks a lot. I think a "public face" superhero should have a defining costume but absolutely agree that they should change things up, especially for different mission types and events, etc. FYI, I didn't get any comment alerts on this pic so I apologize for the *ahem* delayed gratitude.

I'm going with the "Ahmma fightchoo up close" Storm. It's much more streamlined and shows off a simpler side to her. Her hair is just really great. I love Storm in a ponytail. It's just very mature-looking and seems to emphasize her elegance. Of course, a cape couldn't hurt.
The other one is a bit too frou-frou with that weird Shi'Ar looking crown and shoulder pad. And the red bodysuit doesn't scream Storm to me. Whites and blacks are always best as her main colour. Although those boots on her are something else. I love the slouchiness of them.

I like the maroon even more now and would love to see her work in that color. I know purple is often used as the regal, royal color and while she's donned it before I just don't care for it on her. Funny you say that about the crown. It was just a modified version of the black one, but once I finished I thought "Shi'Ar!"... but I dig it.
I still enjoy elements of both of them but each represents a very different Storm for me, almost like the ponytailed one is the young impetuous Ororo while the other is the queen she grows to be... Or something.
